Job summary

CF Industries is seeking a hard-working Electrical Engineer intern/co-op to support plant improvement projects. You will develop electrical designs, verify construction, and assist engineers with daily tasks in a manufacturing setting.

The role requires an ABET-accredited EE program student, strong communication and presentation skills, and familiarity with AutoCAD and MS Office. A 7–8 month internship is expected, with mentorship and hands-on experience.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Able to present ideas verbally and in writing.
  • Able to communicate with external vendors and contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical and instrumentation engineering designs for assigned projects.
  • Field verification of project construction and installed equipment.
  • Assist I/E Engineers with day-to-day tasks.
  • Provide daily maintenance support to I&E technicians and operations.
  • Evaluate site power requirements and perform analysis.
  • Support MOC documentation and coordinate changes with engineering/drafting.

Function: Intern/Co-op

Job Summary: Responsible for completing multiple projects over the course of the co-op or internship time period. This can be the result of the engineer identifying an opportunity for improvement, recommending a solution, and directing implementation of the change. The Electrical Engineer co-op/intern directly impacts organizational success by helping in plant improvement efforts.

Job Description
  1. Provide electrical and instrumentation engineering designs for assigned projects. This may include directing and reviewing the work of outside engineering firms and/or developing in-house design and construction packages.
  2. Field verification of project construction and installed equipment.
  3. Assists I/E Engineers with day-to-day tasks.
  4. Provide daily maintenance support to I&E technicians and operations to solve plant problems.
  5. Evaluate site power requirements, including performing short circuit analysis, arc flash, protective device settings and coordination studies.
  6. Manage and support Management of Change (MOC) process for documenting any changes to instrumentation and electrical equipment. Coordinate all documentation changes with the engineering/drafting department
Successful incumbents will have:
  1. Must be a current college student enrolled in an accredited Electrical Engineering program at an ABET-accredited institution.
  2. Previous co-op or intern experience is preferred.
  3. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience in AutoCAD preferred.
  4. Ability to make verbal and written presentations to communicate ideas effectively.
  5. Expected to effectively communicate with outside vendors and contractors.
  6. Commitment to fulfilling a summer internship or 7-8-month co-op assignment.
