Job summary

Jacobs in Boise, Idaho seeks an Electrical Engineer to join our building services team. You’ll design lighting systems, perform load calculations, and develop grounding and protection strategies for complex facilities.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, is a Professional Engineer or can obtain licensure within six months, and brings at least four years of corporate electrical experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months from hire.
  • At least 4 years of experience in a corporate electrical engineering environment.
  • Mentorship focus to develop future engineers.
  • Strong architectural engineering focus.
  • Proficiency in Revit and 3D CADD.
  • Self-starter with teamwork and problem solving.

Responsibilities

Your Impact

Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Design and perform calculations for lighting systems and associated controls.
  • Prepare load analysis for different stages of design.
  • Oversee the preparation of drawings detailing system design.
  • Prepare basis of design reports, energy compliance calculations and forms.
  • Design grounding and lightning protection, redundant electrical systems.
  • Mitigate hazardous area concerns.
  • Select equipment and fixtures for use in the building.
  • Coordinate with engineers and architects of other disciplines.
  • Facilitate construction administration.
  • Travel to clients and projects as required.

Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) License, or ability to obtain it within 6 months from hire.
  • At least 4 years of experience working in a corporate engineering environment in an electrical engineering capacity.
  • Strong mentorship focus to develop future engineers.
  • Strong technical focus in the Architectural Engineering space.
  • Proficiency in Revit and 3D CADD.
  • Attitude of taking independent initiative, exhibiting creative problem‑solving, eagerness to learn, and remaining dedicated to teamwork.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to medium and high voltage designs.
  • Experience with SCADA design.
  • Experience with mission‑critical concepts for healthcare, datacenters, and/or transportation.
  • Willingness to travel in support of projects and sales pursuits.

The base salary range for this position is $123,600.00 to $170,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors such as job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
