Job summary

Steel Dynamics in Texas is seeking an Electrical Engineer to provide electrical, automation repair and process improvements for facility and melting operations. You will review engineering logs, production performance and data to troubleshoot operational questions and problems.

Responsibilities include designing updates, documenting maintenance reports, coordinating capital projects, and acting as a technical resource for operators.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Good understanding of closed loop control systems.
  • Maintenance experience preferred; Proficient in automation, AC drives, process controls, Siemens PLCs and software.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews engineering logs, production performance, and data to troubleshoot operational questions and problems.
  • Provides electrical and automation repairs and improvements.
  • Design level understanding of Low, Medium, and High Voltage control and distribution.
  • Responsible for documentation such as print updates, procedures, maintenance reports, etc.
  • Makes improvements by modifying automation, electrical and mechanical systems as well as recommending changes to the process.
  • Provides engineering design, changes, implementation, and capital projects.
  • Act as a technical resource for operators regarding operation and functionality of equipment.
  • Plan and execute maintenance down periods.
