Job summary

Tronox Hamilton, MS is seeking an Electrical Engineer, Asset Improvement to execute strategic asset programs and support projects across electrical and instrumentation disciplines. Responsible for asset management planning, budget preparation, and ensuring safe, reliable power distribution.

You will contribute to maintaining critical electrical systems, drive maintenance strategies, and support operations with rigorous life-cycle analysis and compliance activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is required.
• Minimum 2 years of electrical engineering experience in an industrial environment.
• Project management experience.
• Experience in industrial/chemical facility is preferred.
• Experience with TiO2 production process / chemical manufacturing / electrical utility / heavy industry is preferred.
• Electrical code and power systems knowledge.
• Experience working with high voltage/current systems (up to 480Vac / 2400Vac / 13.2kV).
• Asset life cycle management.
• Practice of reliability engineering.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills are required.
• Energy analysis and conservation experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
• MX or above on most recent evaluation, with no active corrective action documentation in the past year

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage medium-long term asset management plans for electrical plant assets to achieve business objectives.
• Prepare and administer budgets for projects/programs and identify opportunities for reducing costs.
• Support Operations with strategic maintenance of critical electrical systems.
• Assist Operations in project execution by completing maintainability analysis and operational readiness activities.
• Lead electrical design, analysis, and validation activities across development phases.
• Project management and execution of asset improvement and asset integrity projects.
• Complete life cycle costing to determine optimal asset strategy.
• Support statutory compliance and inspection processes.
• Develop plant standards and specifications meeting industry standards.
• Create and maintain Asset Integrity Register for site electrical assets.
• Plan 5-to-10-year capital budgeting for electrical infrastructure maintenance.
• Perform risk analysis on current and future site equipment/activities.
• Lead Electrical Works program for site.
• Support safety adherence and energy consumption monitoring.

About The Role

The Electrical Engineer, Asset Improvement will execute strategic asset programs, (e.g. control systems, electrical and instrumentation) and support of projects. Undertakes assignments of varying scope and complexity involving a range of standard technical problem solving techniques and computational methods.

• Develop and manage medium-long term asset management plans for electrical plant assets to achieve business objectives (Safe, Low Cost, Quality Production)
• Prepare and effectively administer budgets for projects/programs and identify opportunities for reducing costs.
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes (NEC, NEMA, NFPA, IEEE, IEC) and best practices in electrical design
• Use AutoCAD and power system analysis software (ETAP).
• Assist Operations with the strategic maintenance and management of critical electrical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, transformers, etc.
• Supports Operations in project execution by completing maintainability analysis and operational readiness activities
• Execute and oversee complex electrical engineering design, analysis, and validation activities, ensuring manufacturability and reliability through all development phases
• Project Management and execution of asset improvement and asset integrity projects (i.e. multi-discipline engineering)
• Completes life cycle costing analysis of plant assets to determine the optimum whole of life asset strategy
• Hold influence and governance for the statutory compliance and inspection process, developing and defining methods and process of inspection
• Assist maintenance in the development of repair SOW for electrical equipment and electrical infrastructure
• Ensure the optimal reliability of the plant by effectively implementing asset management and maintenance improvement programs
• Supports the Maintenance Reliability engineer in development of the electrical asset maintenance strategies
• Develop plant standards and specifications that meet or exceed industry standards
• Create and maintain Asset Integrity Register for site electrical assets
• Develop 5-to-10-year planning to provide guidance on capital budgeting for electrical infrastructure maintenance and improvements
• Perform risk analysis on current and future site equipment and/or activities
• Lead Electrical Works program for site
• Practice site safety procedures and participate as a frontline role in monitoring site for safety adherence
• Monitor site energy consumption and ensure electrical capacity is maintained

Physical Requirements

• Must be clean-shaven in areas where facial hair would interfere with the proper fit and seal of a respirator. This includes no beards, goatees, mustaches that extend below the top lip or excessive sideburns.
• Occasionally ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, etc. and moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments
• Occasional prolonged periods of remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Constantly walking long distances from one worksite to another and working in outdoor weather conditions
