Overview

Seeking a Digital Design Engineer to develop complex mixed‑signal integrated circuits for electric vehicles, industrial control, power, isolation, and other infrastructure applications. This engineer will participate in the full design cycle—from system conceptualization to mass production—including digital system architecture, RTL coding, algorithm and firmware development, digital back‑end (synthesis, timing closure, P&R preparation, scan insertion), verification, and mixed‑signal validation. Documentation, test vector development, lab testing, customer support, and production activities are also part of the role.

Responsibilities

• Derive requirements and architecture for digital subsystems from product specifications.
• Develop innovative designs for patents or trade secrets.
• Participate in product definition.
• Interface with analog teams to define analog‑digital interfacing requirements.
• Collaborate with the team to refine designs for efficient implementation and verification.
• Create documentation and reports on design results through reviews.
• Attend design reviews to provide input and learn from other designers.
• Research design techniques through technical publications and seminars.

Minimum Requirements

• MS in a relevant field with digital IC design experience; a higher degree may reduce required work experience.
• Strong motivation to contribute to all facets of chip design from concept to production.
• Working knowledge of digital IC circuit design in an HDL synthesis environment.
• Ability to develop RTL code and understand how RTL maps to gate‑level structures.
• Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, PERL, shell, TCL).
• Experience modeling analog blocks for inclusion in HDL mixed‑mode simulation.
• Deep understanding of the digital design flow from architecture through RTL design, verification, synthesis, timing closure, P&R preparation, and scan insertion.
• Good verbal and written communication; positive attitude; willingness to work on a team.

Additional Skills (highly desirable)

• Competence in high‑level languages (e.g., Matlab, C), scripting languages (e.g., Tcl, Perl, Python, SKILL), and version control systems (e.g., SVN, GIT).
• Working knowledge of SystemVerilog and/or UVM.
• Experience with digital design verification and full‑chip mixed‑signal verification.
• Experience with digital IO interfaces such as SPI, I2C, and others.
• Competence in exploring digital and system/architecture trade‑offs such as memory size (ROM, RAM, FLASH, OTP, cache), clock speed, multiple clock domains, and dedicated logic or DSP.
• Experience with both digital front‑end and back‑end tools.
• Familiarity with DSP techniques and algorithms.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD$77,900 – $142,900 per year, with starting pay based on experience, skills, and location.
