Job summary

Knauf Insulation North America is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to design, develop, and test plant automation, electrical equipment, and machinery. You will review plans, determine scope and timing, monitor costs, and develop estimates.

You will program and troubleshoot the process control system, coordinate with process engineers, and oversee multiple plant projects from design to completion with emphasis on safety, efficiency and cost control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Minimum five (5) years’ Electrical Engineering experience in an Industrial Manufacturing/Integrator Engineering/O.E.M. facility.
• Minimum five (5) years’ current PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.
• Knowledge of Plant power distribution systems, PLCs (Allen Bradley & Rockwell) and motor controls.
• Knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting (PanelView & Rockwell software).
• Ability to read complex electrical schematics and read technical plans.

Responsibilities

• Program and troubleshoot the plant's Process Control system, including SCADA and data servers.
• Coordinate with Process Engineers and plant personnel for improved process control and data reporting.
• Oversee new plant projects and upgrades from design to completion; manage scopes, quotes, POs, budgets and timelines.
• Manage and maintain the plant's power distribution system.
• Drive technology to improve safety, product quality, profitability and efficiency; reduce scrap and maintenance costs.
• Provide expert electrical troubleshooting support to Maintenance as needed.

About the Role:

As an Electrical Project Engineer, you will design, develop, and test all aspects of plant automation, electrical equipment, and machinery. Apply your knowledge of engineering principles to design machine controls. Be involved in installation, programming, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment. Provide technical support to plant staff and contractors. Review plans and other technical documents, determines scope and/or timing of the project, and monitors costs and project progress. Develop cost estimates and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Program and troubleshoot the plant's Process Control system, including Scada and data servers
• Coordinate with Process Engineers and other plant personnel to support their needs for improved process control, data reporting, etc.
• Oversee new plant projects and upgrade/redesign of existing equipment from design/specification through completion; this includes but is not limited to developing scopes of work, requesting quotes, writing purchase orders, coordinating internal and external project team members, monitoring, and adhering to the budget and timeline, etc.
• Manage and maintain the plant's power distribution system
• Make the pursuit of technology a priority to improve safety, product quality, plant profitability and operating efficiency; reduce scrap; lower maintenance costs; etc.
• Support Maintenance with expert level electrical troubleshooting as needed

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required

Experience:

• Minimum five (5) years’ Electrical Engineering experience in an Industrial Manufacturing/Integrator Engineering/O.E.M. facility
• Minimum five (5) years’ current PLC programming and troubleshooting experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of Plant power distribution systems, programmable logic controllers (Allen Bradley & Rockwell required), and electric motor controls
• Knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting (PanelView & Rockwell Automation software required)
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models
• Variable frequency drives
• Ability to establish and maintain relationships with vendors and contractors
• Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics
• Computer skills in a MS Windows Environment; proficient in PowerPoint, Word and Excel
