Job summary

Delkor Systems is seeking an Electrical Engineer to analyze machine function, design electrical systems, and create detailed schematics for customer projects. You will collaborate with controls programmers to ensure specifications are met and support on-site debugging.

The role requires solid knowledge of NEC/NFPA/UL standards and experience with engineering software. The position emphasizes on-site work up to 80% of the time, with a pathway to contribute to service manuals and product

Qualifications

  • Must have an electrical engineering degree or equivalent.
  • Two-year technical degree with 5+ years in electrical controls is acceptable.
  • Proficiency with electrical drawings and related engineering software.

Job Details
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Analyze how a machine will function and creates functional specifications.
  • Design electrical system for customer machines
  • Select appropriate electronic component parts.
  • Develop and draws schematics and other required documentation.
  • Be self-motivated to adjust schedule to meet design and release deadlines.
  • Collaborate with controls programmer to meet required functions in accordance with machine specifications.
  • Assist service and assembly departments with electrical debugging of machines being put together on the floor and occasionally in the field at a customer location.
  • Report machine or plant safety concerns to the department manager.
  • Document electrical standards for panel construction and machine assembly.
  • Assist in writing service/operating manuals for machines.
  • Assist on research and development of new products.
  • Assist controls programmer with software programs to test new product ideas.
  • Assist Service Department in troubleshooting machines in the field via telephone or while on-site at the customer’s facility.
  • Perform other tasks or duties as assigned.
Education And Experience
  • A four-year degree in Electrical Engineering; in lieu of a four-year degree a two year technical degree with five years of experience in electrical controls systems is required.
  • Experience and/or familiarity with SolidWorks preferred.
  • AutoCAD experience.
Technical Skills & Abilities
  • Able to read, understand, analyze, and problem-solve electrical drawings and related engineering software programs.
  • Working knowledge in the National Electric Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 79, and Underwriter’s Laboratory (UL) 508A.
  • Knowledge in mechatronics, machine control sensing, and sizing of servos.
  • Able to use standard computer programs for work processing including Microsoft Office products.
  • Able to assist assembly personnel and co-workers on machine function or design.

  • Communicates clearly and effectively (verbally and non-verbally) to individuals and groups, internally and externally, to exchange ideas and convey detailed information accurately.
  • Works well with a variety of people and personalities, and with other Delkor departments.
  • Works collaboratively, as a team member, to suggest ideas and resolve issues in a positive manner.

  • Well organized with an aptitude for details.
  • Works independently and accurately with minimal supervision.
  • Able to maintain a positive workplace environment under stressful situations.
Physical Requirements
  • Sit at a desk or in meetings for extended periods, including performing extensive computer tasks.
  • Be on-site at Delkor 80% of the regular work week.
Work Environment
  • The majority of duties are performed in an office setting, carrying out detail work sitting at a desk and working on the computer.
  • Twenty to thirty percent (20-30%) of the work is performed on an assembly floor or at customer sites with exposure to tools, dirt, dust, chemicals, metals and plastics, varying temperatures, construction noises and odors from production processes.
  • The estimated amount of time spent traveling to customer sites is ten percent (10%).
Tools and Equipment
  • Use general office equipment such as computer, printer, telephone, fax machine, copiers, e-mail, calculator, and other such equipment.
  • Use basic hand tools including as wrenches, pliers, screwdriver, voltmeter, etc.
Salary Range
  • The salary range for this position is $76,500 - $90,000 per year. At Delkor, we are committed to ensuring that each employee’s compensation reflects their experience, performance, and skills relevant to their current role. This salary range accounts for various factors considered in the hiring process, including but not limited to education, skills, work experience, and certifications. As a result, the final salary offer for the selected candidate(s) may fall anywhere within this range.
