Powerus is seeking an Electrical Engineer to design, build, debug, and test electrical systems on unmanned platforms, including power distribution, avionics, sensors, and wiring. The role spans from breadboard to first article through production at the Rock Hill facility.

Ideal candidates have a BS in EE (or equivalent), hands-on lab experience, and the ability to work across multiple disciplines to trace and fix faults to root cause, with familiarity in Altium, Cadence Allegro, or KiCad.

• Bench and aircraft bring-up, debugging, and validation of hardware.
• Specify wiring, harnessing, connectors, and grounding requirements.

• Write and run test procedures; translate results into design changes.
• Root-cause failures with lab instruments and iterative fixes.
• Select components per electrical specs, NDAA/Blue UAS rules.
• Maintain drawings, interface definitions, BOMs and docs.

Position Overview

Powerus is seeking an Electrical Engineer to design, build, debug, and test electrical systems across Powerus unmanned platforms, including power distribution, avionics, sensors, and wiring.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, review, and modify circuits for power, sensing, control, and interface functions
• Capture schematics and support board layout, component selection, and design review
• Bring up and debug hardware on the bench and on the aircraft
• Specify and validate wiring, harnessing, connectors, and grounding
• Integrate avionics, propulsion, payload, and ground support hardware
• Write and run test procedures and convert results into design changes
• Investigate failures to root cause with lab instruments
• Select components against electrical requirements, availability, and NDAA and Blue UAS sourcing requirements
• Maintain drawings, interface definitions, BOMs, and revision-controlled documentation

Qualifications

• Must be located in the United States, within commuting distance of Rock Hill, SC
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Working knowledge of analog and digital circuits, schematics, and datasheets
• Hands‑on lab experience, including soldering, rework, instrumentation, and structured debugging
• Experience across design, build, and test
• U.S. Person status required (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)); this role involves access to ITAR- and EAR-controlled technical data

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with UAS, aerospace, robotics, automotive, or embedded hardware products
• Experience with Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or KiCad
• Experience with DC-DC conversion, battery systems, motor drives, or power distribution
• Experience with harness design, connector selection, or EMI and grounding
• Experience with I2C, SPI, UART, or CAN
• Active or prior U.S. security clearance
