Create Energy in Portland, TN seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer & Technical Solutions Specialist to design and deploy solar PV, BESS, EV charging, and microgrid systems. You will translate customer needs into engineered solutions, lead technical discussions with the commercial team, and support proposals and system designs.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in electrical design, preferably in renewable energy or power systems.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools.

Create Energy is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer & Technical Solutions Specialist to join our innovative team at our Portland, Tennessee headquarters. This hybrid role blends deep engineering expertise with customer-facing technical leadership, supporting both internal engineering initiatives and the commercial team’s efforts to deliver best-in-class electrical solutions.

You will design, develop, and deploy electrical systems for renewable energy technologies—including solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), EV charging, and microgrids—while also serving as a technical resource for sales, business development, and customer engagement.

This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys hands‑on problem solving, and excels at translating complex engineering concepts into clear, actionable solutions for customers and partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for solar PV, BESS, EV charging, and microgrid products and projects.


• Create single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, conduit layouts, and panel schedules.


• Perform load calculations, power flow studies, fault current analysis, and arc flash assessments.


• Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, UL, and local codes and standards.


• Coordinate with UL, Intertek, and other certification labs for product testing and approvals.


• Prepare documentation and manage submissions for safety and performance certifications.


• Maintain accurate records of design revisions, test results, and compliance reports.


• Contribute to internal design standards, process improvements, and product innovation.

Technical Solutions & Commercial Support

• Serve as a technical subject-matter expert for the commercial team, providing engineering guidance during customer conversations, proposals, and solution development.


• Translate customer requirements into engineered solutions, system configurations, and technical scopes of work.


• Support the creation of technical proposals, cost estimates, and system designs for sales opportunities.


• Participate in customer meetings, site assessments, and technical reviews to ensure alignment between engineering capabilities and commercial commitments.


• Provide technical training and documentation to sales, channel partners, and customers.


• Assist in evaluating new technologies, competitive offerings, and market trends to strengthen Create’s

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with manufacturing, quality, project managers, field technicians, and clients to ensure successful project execution.


• Support field teams during installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.


• Act as a bridge between engineering and customer-facing teams to ensure seamless communication and solution delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field


• 5+ years of experience in electrical design, preferably in renewable energy or power systems


• 3+ years of commercial / sales experience.


• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar design and simulation tools


• Strong understanding of solar PV systems, energy storage, and renewable energy sector technologies


• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail


• PE license or ability to obtain is a plus


• Innovative mind and ability to think outside the box
