Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 2–3 years of experience in power systems or distribution engineering.
  • Experience with capacitor bank controllers, ADMS, and grid devices.
  • Proficient in system modeling tools (e.g., Synergi, CYME).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support deployment and configuration of automated field devices, including capacitor banks and protection systems.
  • Develop and manage device settings for distribution equipment (e.g., reclosers, cap bank controllers).
  • Perform system studies and distribution modeling to optimize device placement and performance.
  • Integrate field devices with advanced distribution management systems (ADMS).
  • Maintain device databases, system records, and issue tracking logs.
  • Monitor device performance and troubleshoot operational issues.
  • Support communications testing and ensure successful system integration.
  • Provide technical guidance to field personnel and assist with meter functionality validation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on IVVO and FLISR initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, reports, and procedures.

Job description

We are seeking a Distribution Engineer II to support the deployment and integration of automated field devices within electric distribution systems. This role focuses on system modeling, device configuration, and integration with advanced grid management platforms.

The ideal candidate will work independently while collaborating across engineering and field teams to ensure reliable and efficient system performance.

Responsibilities

  • Support deployment and configuration of automated field devices, including capacitor banks and protection systems
  • Develop and manage device settings for distribution equipment (e.g., reclosers, cap bank controllers)
  • Perform system studies and distribution modeling to optimize device placement and performance
  • Integrate field devices with advanced distribution management systems (ADMS)
  • Maintain device databases, system records, and issue tracking logs
  • Monitor device performance and troubleshoot operational issues
  • Support communications testing and ensure successful system integration
  • Provide technical guidance to field personnel and assist with meter functionality validation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on IVVO (Integrated Volt-VAR Optimization) and FLISR initiatives
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, reports, and procedures

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 2–3 years of experience in power systems or distribution engineering
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • Capacitor bank controllers
  • Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS)
  • Strong understanding of power distribution systems and utility operations
  • Experience with system modeling tools (e.g., Synergi, CYME)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced engineering environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with IVVO or FLISR applications
  • Programming experience (Python, SQL, or C/C++)
  • Familiarity with SAP, Maximo, or similar work management systems
  • Exposure to data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI)
  • Utility, industrial, or energy sector experience
