Job summary

HukariAscendent is seeking an Electrical Engineer 2 for a 1-year assignment with potential extension. Responsibilities include design, analysis, and preparation of construction documents for low-power electrical systems (under 480V) as part of a fast-paced, multi-discipline team.

The role requires ABET-accreditedElectrical Engineering degree and 3+ years of experience, with ability to obtain a DOE Q clearance and work in a plant environment. Generous benefits are offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Working knowledge of industry, regulatory, and DOE/NNSA codes, standards, and criteria relevant to electrical engineering (e.g., NQA-1, IBC, NFPA, NEC)
  • Experience with low-power electrical systems design (under 480V; 208V and 120V common)
  • Prior experience facilitating and developing engineering design packages, including creating and interpreting construction documents and specifications
  • Experience with computer-aided design/drafting software or markup tools
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance and unescorted (A-Level) access
  • U.S. citizenship required (with very limited exceptions); must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to access and walk around an active plant/facility environment

Job Title: Electrical Engineer 2

Duration: 1-year assignment, with possible extension up to 3 years; conversion to direct hire also possible

Short Summary about Job:

The Electrical Engineer will perform a full range of design engineering responsibilities in support of facility design, operation, and maintenance activities, applying broad and diversified knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices, and DOE-complex requirements. Responsibilities include conventional engineering design, analysis, and calculations; developing, reviewing, and supporting engineering design packages; and providing construction, field, and project engineering support. The role involves creating and interpreting construction documentation and specifications for low-power electrical systems (under 480V, commonly 208V and 120V), working independently and as part of a multidiscipline team, and interfacing with stakeholders across disciplines in a fast-paced environment. This is a backfill position supporting a rapid response engineering team.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Working knowledge of industry, regulatory, and DOE/NNSA codes, standards, and criteria relevant to electrical engineering (e.g., NQA-1, IBC, NFPA, NEC)
  • Experience with low-power electrical systems design (under 480V; 208V and 120V common), including conductor sizing, conduit sizing, and junction boxes
  • Prior experience facilitating and developing engineering design packages, including creating and interpreting construction documents and specifications
  • Experience with computer-aided design/drafting software or markup tools
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance and unescorted (A-Level) access
  • U.S. citizenship required (with very limited exceptions); must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to access and walk around an active plant/facility environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • 8–9 years of relevant experience (Level 3) considered, though Level 2 (3+ years) is preferred for this opening
  • Demonstrated strong construction documentation and field mitigation experience
  • Work Schedule: 4/10s, day shift. Training period follows a Tuesday–Friday schedule; after training, schedule shifts to Friday–Monday or Thursday–Sunday, 10-hour shifts. Shift/weekend assignments determined by management based on operational needs.
  • On-call/overtime not expected. This is a full-time position from the start.
  • No travel required for this position. Driving (government or private vehicle) is possible but not guaranteed.
  • This position may be subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities.
