Job summary

AMETEK PDS seeks an energetic electrical engineer to join a high-rel aerospace engineering team in Harleysville. You will lead design efforts for power, analog, and digital circuits, drive DVT, and support testing from concept through qualification.

Responsibilities include interface with multiple disciplines, producing detailed schematics, and delivering on milestones. Strong documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential in this fast-paced, quality-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5–10 years of relevant engineering design experience.
• Experience designing analog, digital, microprocessor, and high-power AC/DC circuits.
• Track record of on-time delivery of project milestones.
• Ability to produce accurate, detailed electronic schematics.
• Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, dataloggers, analyzers, programmable waveform generators, power supplies, and programmable loads.
• Ability to write technical requirements.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Great communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide design leadership, coaching, and support in engineering practices to analyze, specify, design, document, and test products.
• Perform detailed electronic design and validation of power, analog, and digital circuits including microprocessor and EPLD-based systems.
• Use digital skills to produce Built-In-Testing coverage and meet data rates for cockpit reporting.
• Interface with other engineering disciplines for development and validation.
• Support manufacturing during prototype builds, perform startup and DVT testing, and complete FTA and FMECA analyses.
• Provide technical product support and troubleshooting to manufacturing, customers, and end users.
• Develop system architectures leveraging aircraft electrical concepts and aerospace standards.
• Research and develop technologies, processes to meet customer and AMETEK goals.
• Translate customer requirements into design requirements ensuring safety, redundancy, reliability.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams during system integration testing.
• Prepare technical proposals and cost estimates.

Responsibilities:

• Provides design leadership, coaching, and support in the effective use of engineering practices to analyze, specify, design, document, and test products
• Performs detailed electronic design, troubleshooting, validation, and qualification of power, analog, and digital circuits including microprocessor and EPLD-based systems design
• Utilizing digital skills to produce the required Built-In-Testing coverage and achieve the data rates and responsiveness required to interrupt faults and report information to the cockpit
• Regularly interface with other engineering disciplines, both local and remote, to perform development and design validation activities
• Supports manufacturing activities during prototype builds, executing startup and DVT testing of new designs, and the completion of detailed FTA and FMECA analysis.
• Provides technical product support and troubleshooting as necessary to manufacturing, customers and end users
• Leverages knowledge of aircraft electrical system concepts and aerospace industry standards to develop system architectures
• Researches, recommends, and develops technologies, processes, and methods to meet both customer and AMETEK goals
• Analyzes and decomposes customer requirements into design requirements while ensuring compliance with safety, redundance, and reliability requirements
• Responsible for the high-level coordination of cross-functional engineering teams during all phases of system integration testing
• Prepares technical proposals and cost estimates

Required Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum of 5-10yrs of relevant engineering design work experience
• Experience designing analog, digital, microprocessor, and high-power AC/DC circuits
• A track record of on-time delivery of project milestones
• Ability to produce accurate, detailed electronic schematics
• Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, dataloggers, analyzers, programmable waveform generators, power supplies, and programmable loads
• Ability to write technical requirements
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Great communication and documentation skills

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Airborne electronic hardware development experience using DO-160 and DO-254.
• Experience with one or more of the following: I2C, SPI, RS485, CANBus, ARINC 429
• Schematic capture using Altium
• Some programming experience preferred. (C, C++, C#, Python, Visual Basic, or other)
• Requirements capture using DOORS
• Familiarity with ARP-4754A
