Mirion seeks an Electrical Engineer to support the transfer of electro-mechanical product designs from R&D to Manufacturing and to back-day manufacturing operations. The role focuses on continuous process improvement and cost-out initiatives to help the business operate more efficiently while delivering to the customer.

Responsibilities include designing PC boards, schematics, and assemblies; developing test plans for hardware/software verification and validation; and managing the transfer of PC

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical or Electronic Engineering with 3–5 years of experience in engineering or manufacturing.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong communication skills with excellent technical writing ability.
  • Attentive to detail and highly organized.
  • Experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and processors/debuggers.

Responsibilities

  • Support transfer of new electro-mechanical product designs from R&D to Manufacturing.
  • Drive continuous process improvement and cost-out initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Repair Technicians to optimize troubleshooting and repair.
  • Build and test prototypes for new product development.
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems, identify root cause, implement solutions.
  • Develop and maintain manuals, test procedures, and BOMs.
  • Create PC board layouts, electrical schematics, and assemblies.
  • Develop test plans for hardware/software verification and validation.
  • Perform hardware/software verification and validation testing.
  • Implement process control techniques for manufacturing.
  • Create assembly procedures and work instructions; provide training and oversight.
  • Manage transfer of PC boards to Contract Manufacturer and resolve issues with CM.

Job description

The Electrical Engineer supports the transfer of new electro-mechanical product designs from R&D to Manufacturing, and also supports day-to-day manufacturing operations. The role is focused on continuous process improvement and cost out to enable the business to operate more efficiently while delivering to the customer.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
  • Work with Repair Technicians to ensure troubleshooting & repair is effective & efficient.
  • Recommend design changes to improve product quality, performance, cost, & reliability.
  • Build & test prototypes for new product development.
  • Troubleshoot difficult electrical problems, determine root cause, and implement solutions.
  • Develop and maintain manuals, test procedures and BOMs.
  • Develop PC board layout, electrical schematics, and complete assemblies.
  • Develop test plans for hardware/software verification and validation.
  • Perform hardware/software verification and validation testing.
  • Developing and implementing process control techniques and procedures for manufacturing.
  • Creating assembly procedures and work instructions for all phases assembly and provides the training and oversight to carry through implementation.
  • Manage the transfer of PC Boards to a Contract Manufacturer for manufacturing and deal with any problems with the Contract Manufacturer.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  • BS in Electrical or Electronic Engineering with 3-5 years’ experience working in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Strong communication skills with excellent technical writing skills.
  • Must be attentive to details and highly organized.
  • Skilled at using oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers, and processor emulators/debuggers.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and work on concurrent projects.
  • Must be able to proactively and constructively make suggestions for process or product improvement.
  • Must be able to think independently but work within the constraints set by product architecture.
  • Ability to productively work both autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with ESD prevention, IPC-A-610/J-STD workmanship standards, and Quality Management System Standards; ISO 9001 and 13485, and FDA standards knowledge and experience are desirable
  • Proficiency using basic electronic test and measurement equipment including Calipers, Multimeters, Power Supplies, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Travel and working extended workdays as required to support Manufacturing Operations
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. unassisted; must be able to sit and/or stand up to 8 hours per day uninterrupted.
