Our client, an established medical technology manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer (or Sr.) to join its product development team. This individual will play a key role in designing, developing, testing, and supporting innovative medical devices throughout the full product lifecycle, from concept through commercialization. The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex engineering challenges and working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
Requirements of the Electrical Engineer:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Approximately 5–10 years of electrical engineering experience in a regulated product development environment.
- Experience designing, programming, testing, and supporting microcontroller-based hardware and embedded firmware.
- Strong analog and digital circuit design, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience using PCB design software such as Altium, Allegro, OrCAD, or similar platforms.
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
- Background in medical device development under FDA and international quality system regulations (preferred).
- Familiarity with wireless communication technologies such as Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Wi-Fi (preferred).
- Experience with flexible circuit design (preferred).
- Experience developing PC-based manufacturing test or verification applications (preferred).
Responsibilities of the Electrical Engineer:
- Design, develop, test, and support hardware and embedded firmware for medical device products.
- Provide engineering support for commercially released products, including troubleshooting and sustaining engineering activities.
- Investigate production and field issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Lead or support verification and validation activities for new and existing products.
- Support the transfer of new products from development into manufacturing, including documentation, test procedures, and production tooling.
- Develop and maintain automated manufacturing test systems where applicable.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, regulatory, and engineering teams to ensure successful product development and product support.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including schematics, drawings, specifications, test protocols, risk management documentation, engineering change orders, and design records.
- Ensure product development activities comply with applicable regulatory and quality system requirements.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and other engineering projects as assigned.
