Job summary

SCCI is seeking an Electrical Engineer (EE) to support the Battle Management System portfolio at Dahlgren, VA. The role involves applying robust EE processes, collaborating with the BMS Electrical team, and assisting with installation, integration, and testing of changes on site.

Requirements include DoD clearance eligibility, a BS in engineering, and 7+ years of EE experience. On-site duties demand strong communication across EE, ME, and QA teams and the ability to adapt to evolving program

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain DoD clearance.
• BS degree in engineering or technical field from an accredited college.
• 7+ years electrical engineering experience in a professional setting.
• Knowledge of EE best practices and rapid development processes.
• Hands-on fabrication experience (soldering, cable making, testing).
• Experience with electronics, semiconductors, schematics, PCB layout, and microprocessors.
• Knowledge of Weapon Systems and C2 systems.
• PCB design software proficiency (OrCad Cadence preferred).
• Cable drawings proficiency (Visio preferred).
• Embedded software design knowledge.
• SolidWorks familiarity.
• Ability to handle changing program requirements.
• Task estimation and scheduling ability.
• Team collaboration and clear written/verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Design custom PCBs using ARM microcontrollers for BMS platforms.
• Design harnesses and cabling between PCBs and interfaces.
• Create engineering docs for Technical Design Packages.
• Assist with test and startup of new board designs.
• Collaborate with EE, ME, Embedded Software and QA teams.
• Assess performance criteria and suggest improvements.
• Develop status reports and convey progress in writing and speech.

Overview

SCCI is hiring a Electrical Engineer (EE) for the Battle Management System (BMS) portfolio of projects. In this position you will apply robust electrical engineering processes working closely with the BMS Electrical team. The successful candidate will be expected to communicate and collaborate on a regular basis with EE team to clarify program intent, identify problems, suggest changes, and develop and document solutions. Additional duties may include participating in the installation, integration, and testing of the developed changes at Dahlgren. This position is located in Dahlgren, VA.

Responsibilities

• Design custom printed circuit boards using ARM based microcontrollers to control weapons on BMS platforms


• Design harnesses and cabling between the circuit cards and external interfaces


• Create engineering documentation for Technical Design Packages to include fabrication and assemble instructions


• Assist with the troubleshooting and initial start-up of new circuit board designs


• Collaborate with the Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Embedded Software, and Quality Assurance teams


• Assess operational performance criteria and provide input for improving performance


• Develop status reports, progress and performance results both orally and in writing

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Must be a U.S. citizen capable of attaining and maintaining a DoD security clearance


• A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline


• Seven (7)+ years of experience working as an Electrical Engineer in a professional environment


• Knowledge of Electrical Engineering best practices and rapid development processes.


• Hands on experience with fabrication (soldering, cable making, using oscilloscope, volt meter, small hand tools, crimper, and assembling PCBs)


• Proven skills in electronic circuits, semiconductors, logic design, schematic capture and PCB layout, cable/harness design, and microprocessors


• Knowledge of Weapon Systems and Command & Control Systems


• Proficient with PCB design software (OrCad Cadence preferred)


• Proficient with creating cable drawings (Visio preferred)


• Knowledge of Embedded Software design best practices


• Familiarity with SolidWorks preferred


• Ability to work with changing program requirements


• Ability to define task details, estimates, and scheduled


• Ability to work with others to meet established goals and program scheduled


• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
