Job description

EcoTal is partnering with an industry-leading developer and operator of next-generation digital infrastructure to identify an Electrical Engineer for their growing engineering team. Our client builds and operates large-scale, mission-critical data center campuses supporting AI, cloud computing, colocation, and other high-performance computing workloads.

Operating at the intersection of technology, energy, and infrastructure, the organization is experiencing significant growth and offers the opportunity to work on highly complex electrical infrastructure supporting some of the industry's most advanced data center developments.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong background in mission-critical power systems and data center infrastructure.

Working under the Engineering Lead, the Electrical Engineer will own electrical distribution design review for large-scale data center developments, covering systems from the medium-voltage switchgear interface through rack-level distribution. This individual will validate designs, studies, equipment submittals, and vendor documentation while supporting construction and electrical commissioning through final turnover.

The ideal candidate combines strong electrical engineering fundamentals with practical knowledge of how mission-critical power systems are designed, constructed, tested, commissioned, and operated.

Responsibilities
  • Review MV/LV electrical distribution designs from the substation interface through switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, busway, PDUs, RPPs, and rack-level distribution.
  • Review one-line diagrams, equipment layouts, raceway designs, circuiting, equipment ratings, and electrical clearances.
  • Verify system selectivity, redundancy strategies, including N+1 and 2N configurations, and compliance with applicable codes and project standards.
  • Validate short-circuit, protective device coordination, arc-flash, and load-flow studies using SKM and/or ETAP.
  • Ensure study inputs accurately reflect electrical designs, equipment selections, and vendor data.
  • Review electrical equipment submittals for switchgear, breakers, generators, UPS systems, busway, transformers, and other major equipment.
  • Participate in factory acceptance testing for critical electrical equipment and coordinate technical issues with vendors.
  • Respond to electrical RFIs and evaluate field changes for code compliance, equipment ratings, and system coordination.
  • Support field teams during equipment installation, terminations, grounding, and other key construction milestones.
  • Review electrical commissioning procedures and scripts across Levels 2–5.
  • Witness critical testing including protective relay verification, load-bank testing, UPS and generator transfers, and integrated systems testing.
  • Drive electrical commissioning and punch-list issues through resolution and validate documentation for final turnover.
  • Contribute to electrical design standards, specifications, typical details, and lessons learned for future projects.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of electrical engineering, electrical design, or owner's-side design review experience within data centers, mission-critical facilities, semiconductor, healthcare, heavy industrial, or similarly complex environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems.
  • Deep understanding of standby generation, UPS systems, critical power distribution, and redundancy configurations.
  • Hands-on experience reviewing and validating power system studies using SKM and/or ETAP.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC, IEEE, NETA, NFPA 70E, and arc-flash requirements.
  • Experience reviewing submittals and participating in factory acceptance testing for major electrical equipment.
  • Familiarity with major electrical OEMs such as ABB, Eaton, Schneider Electric, Vertiv, Caterpillar, Cummins, or similar manufacturers.
  • Experience supporting commissioning activities within mission-critical environments, including integrated systems testing.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills with the ability to provide clear, actionable engineering direction.
  • Full-time, site-based position.
  • Opportunities available in St. Francisville, Louisiana and Corpus Christi, Texas.
  • Hands-on involvement throughout design review, construction, testing, commissioning, and turnover.
  • Regular collaboration with engineering, construction, commissioning, vendors, and project leadership.
Benefits and Growth Opportunities
  • Life and short- and long-term disability insurance.
  • Paid time off.
  • Opportunity to work on large-scale, highly technical data center developments.
  • Exposure to complex mission-critical electrical infrastructure from design through commissioning.
  • Opportunity to contribute directly to engineering standards and lessons learned across future projects.
  • Collaborative environment with professionals across technology, energy, engineering, construction, and infrastructure.
