Electronic Power Design, Inc. seeks an Electrical Engineer to lead design, development and implementation of electrical systems for UL-891 switchboards, MCCs, and automation projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required; Master’s preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years electrical engineering experience in power distribution/industrial controls.
  • Strong knowledge of power systems and control systems.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and related design software.
  • Experience creating schematics, BOMs, and engineering docs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design of electrical systems for UL-891 switchboards and MCCs.
  • Create and review schematics, wiring diagrams, and one-line drawings.
  • Develop BOMs and maintain documentation in ERP.
  • Conduct power distribution studies and fault analysis.
  • Provide technical leadership to Production, QA, and Engineering.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering Team. This role is responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems for advanced power distribution equipment, including UL-891 switchboards, motor control centers, generator controls, and automation systems. What You'll Do:

Electrical Design & System Development

  • Lead the design and development of electrical systems for UL-891 switchboards, motor control centers, power distribution centers, and automation applications.
  • Create and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, one-line drawings, and engineering documentation using AutoCAD Electrical and related design software.
  • Develop accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and maintain engineering documentation within ERP systems.
  • Perform power distribution studies, fault analysis, and system evaluations to ensure reliability, safety, and performance.
  • Ensure designs meet customer specifications, utility requirements, and applicable industry standards.

Manufacturing Support & Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical leadership and support to Production, Quality, and Engineering teams throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Troubleshoot design-related issues and develop solutions that support efficient production and product performance.
  • Assist with product testing, factory acceptance testing, commissioning activities, and quality verification efforts.
  • Mentor technicians, designers, and junior engineering personnel while promoting technical excellence.
  • Support implementation of engineering changes and product improvement initiatives.

Compliance & Documentation Management

  • Maintain accurate engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and project documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with UL-891, ANSI/NEMA, IEC, and company quality standards.
  • Support engineering reviews, documentation audits, and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Maintain project records and technical documentation within ERP and engineering systems.
  • Promote adherence to safety standards and engineering best practices.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with Mechanical Engineers, Project Managers, Manufacturing personnel, and Quality teams to deliver successful projects.
  • Participate in project planning meetings and provide technical expertise throughout project lifecycles.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, engineering efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify opportunities to improve design processes, manufacturing methods, and engineering standards.
  • Contribute to a collaborative environment focused on innovation, operational excellence, and customer success.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of electrical engineering experience in power distribution, industrial controls, automation systems, or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, power systems, and control systems.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and electrical design software.
  • Experience creating engineering documentation, schematics, and Bills of Materials.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and engineering data management processes.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Experience with UL-891 switchboards, motor control centers, generator controls, or power distribution systems.
  • Familiarity with ANSI/NEMA, IEC, and related industry standards.
  • Experience mentoring technicians, designers, or junior engineering personnel.
  • Experience within electrical equipment manufacturing or engineered-to-order production environments.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
