Job summary

Thomas Young Group is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead design and documentation of electrical systems for commercial and industrial projects in Illinois. The role emphasizes collaboration, quality, and client satisfaction, with mentorship of junior engineers and active participation in project delivery.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering with 6+ years of electrical design experience; a PE license is preferred, and strong leadership and communication

Qualifications

• 6+ years of electrical design experience.

• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Familiarity with applicable building codes and standards.
• Experience mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and documentation of electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, and life safety.
• Perform complex design calculations and QA/QC reviews.
• Attend client meetings, site visits, and coordination sessions.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for integrated project delivery.
• Guide junior engineers and support project delivery.
• Use REVIT and other software for design and documentation.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Track project progress and help develop department standards.

What you'll be doing:

Lead design and documentation of electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, and life safety

Perform complex design calculations and QA/QC reviews

Attend and contribute to client meetings, construction site visits, and coordination sessions

Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and attend client/site meetings

Guide junior engineers and support project delivery

Use REVIT and other softwares for design and documentation

Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery

Track project progress using external and internal projection tools

Support department standards development and process improvement initiatives

What we're looking for:

Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or other related field

6+ years of experience in electrical design

PE license preferred

Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills

Proficiency in REVIT and Microsoft Office Suite

Strong communication and organizational skills

Familiarity with applicable building codes and standards

Experience mentoring junior staff

Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
