Job description

About Us

Our Re-Engineered Classics™ combine proven engineering, meticulous craftsmanship, and personalized design to preserve the original character while delivering modern performance, comfort, and reliability.

Creating a Velocity vehicle requires precision and collaboration across every stage from initial design and engineering through production, testing, delivery, and long-term customer support. Our team works to exacting standards to create exceptional vehicles and an elevated ownership experience for discerning clients. Together, we are setting a new standard for iconic American vehicles and building a company defined by quality, innovation, and passion.

Velocity's Culture and Core Values

Success at Velocity requires a “whatever it takes” mentality. We embody grit, demonstrating perseverance, resilience, and unwavering determination in the face of challenges. We are adaptable, embracing change, adjusting to new circumstances, and continuously seeking ways to improve processes and outcomes—because growth does not come from comfort.

We take ownership, assuming full responsibility for tasks, decisions, and outcomes, whether successes or setbacks, without shifting blame. “That’s not my job” is not in our vocabulary; when one part of our team falls short, we all do.

Finally, our ambition fuels our drive to excel, improve, and uphold the highest standards for both personal and professional growth. This mindset defines who we are and ensures our continued success.

Overview

We are a highly successful, rapidly growing vehicle manufacturer looking for a heavyweight, hands-on Senior Electrical Systems Engineer with 10+ years of experience to take total ownership of our electrical and network architectures.

In this role, you will drive the standardization, documentation and optimization of our electrical systems across a diverse, multi-model product lineup. This position calls for a practical, floor-facing systems expert who splits time between the design screen and an active production environment, working directly with assembly technicians to solve layout issues while strictly maintaining our engineering change process.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • System Standardization & Documentation: Establish the company's baseline electrical standards. Develop, update and manage complete 2D wiring schematics, harness layouts and the master Bill of Materials (BOM), with one released, revision-controlled set of prints for each model.

  • Harness Architecture & Component Selection: Design rugged, reliable wire routing and grounding layouts, including wire sizing, fusing and circuit protection. Select and standardize automotive-grade electrical components and connectors (e.g., Deutsch, TE Connectivity) across all product lines.

  • Network Optimization: Design, audit and troubleshoot vehicle data networks, with a heavy focus on CAN, CAN-FD and LIN.

  • Shop-Floor Collaboration: Work face-to-face with the assembly crew to find build bottlenecks and eliminate manufacturing defects (such as pinched wires or signal noise). Capture every floor adjustment in the master prints through the engineering change process.

  • Continuous Improvement: Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to streamline assembly, improve product reliability and reduce component variation.

What Success Looks Like in the First 90 Days

  • Days 1–45: Complete a deep-dive audit of our lead model line. Establish the core component standards, master schematics and connector families that will serve as the template for the entire product lineup.

  • Days 46–90: Apply the master template to target problem areas across other product lines, isolating and resolving intermittent network dropouts and layout constraints on the production floor.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Technical Skills: Mastery of electrical schematic design software (e.g., Capital/Siemens, Zuken, AutoCAD Electrical) and network diagnostic tools (e.g., Vector CANoe/CANalyzer, oscilloscopes, multimeters).

  • Work Style: A down-to-earth, independent and direct communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, results-driven manufacturing environment. Must be willing to work 100% on-site in Cantonment, FL.

Education and Experience

  • Experience: 10+ years of hands-on electrical systems engineering in automotive, heavy equipment, commercial vehicle or aerospace. A proven track record working directly on an active manufacturing floor is mandatory.

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).

  • On-Time Completion > 95% (Weekly) (Exception: New Model)
