Job summary

Velocity Restorations LLC in Cantonment, FL, seeks a Technician to work in a cutting-edge, climate-controlled facility, primarily with new sheet metal to bring hot rod dreams to life with craftsmanship.

You will perform body work, install panels, patch, prime, and assist the painting team; must pass drug screen, hold a valid license, and be available Monday through Friday with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in automotive collision repair or similar environment.
• Ability to work Monday through Friday with occasional overtime evenings and weekends as needed.

• Perform advanced blocking of body filler, sanding, and primer application.
• Remove and install aftermarket body panels, including doors, hoods, and tailgates.
• Strip, straighten and gap body panels to precise specifications.
• Support the painting team by preparing vehicles for the paint booth.
• Document work with photographs for records.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform advanced blocking of body filler, sanding, and primer application.
• Conduct light body repairs on newly manufactured aftermarket body panels.
• Remove and install aftermarket body panels, including doors, hoods, and tailgates.
• Strip, straighten, and accurately gap body panels to precise specifications.
• Execute short and long blocking techniques and apply body fillers.
• Properly tape and mask vehicles to protect adjacent panels from overspray.
• Use materials efficiently and cost-effectively while adhering to company standards.
• Assist fellow technicians with preparation procedures to maintain workflow and meet deadlines.
• Support the painting team by lifting, preparing, sanding, taping, masking, and cleaning vehicles before they enter the paint booth.
• Complete all paint preparation processes as outlined in work orders.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation at all times.
• Document work by taking clear photographs for customer service and internal records.
• Arrive on time with a professional appearance, ready to work at start of shift.
• Adhere to the company dress code and utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• Complete daily SOS/sign off sheet.

Education Background and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in automotive collision repair or a similar environment.

• 97% billable hours to payroll
• On time completion > 95%
• % of vehicles hitting hours goals

Physical Demands (To include but not limited to)

• Prolonged periods of standing or walking around the workspace.
• Frequently lifting heavy objects, such as tools, parts, or equipment, often weighing up to 50-75 pounds.
• Regularly bending, stooping, or crouching to work on vehicles at different heights.
• Moving large or heavy equipment, carts, or vehicles within the shop.
• Precise manipulation of tools, small parts, and diagnostic equipment.
• Continuous use of hands, arms, and fingers for tasks like tightening bolts, sanding, or painting.
• Exposure to loud noises from power tools and machinery.
• Using equipment like impact wrenches or sanders that produce significant vibration.
• Working in non-climate-controlled environments, leading to exposure to heat or cold.
• Potential exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals like solvents, oils, and paints. Proper PPE is often required.
• Ensuring accuracy in measurements, assembly, and inspections.
• Analyzing and troubleshooting mechanical or structural issues.
• Frequent reaching above the shoulders or below the waist.
• Maintaining physical activity throughout the day without fatigue.
• Adherence to safety protocols to avoid injuries from sharp tools, heavy objects, or moving vehicles.
• Safely operate a motor vehicle.
