Job description

About Formlabs:Do you want to change how the world creates? At Formlabs, we're building the tools that make it possible for anyone to bring their ideas to life, from cutting-edge products to life-saving medical devices. Our 3D printing technology powers innovation at more than 50,000 industry leaders worldwide, including Apple, Google, Tesla, New Balance, and NASA. Together, we're helping everyone design, prototype, and manufacture faster than ever before. We're a team of hands-on builders, engineers, and innovators reinventing how the world makes physical things. If you're ready to shape the future of fabrication, come build it with us.Electrical engineering at Formlabs bridges the gap between the analog and digital worlds. If you love to design and build boards from the ground up, develop firmware to control complex electromechanical systems, and produce elegant solutions to real-world problems, we want you as an Electrical Engineer. You are highly encouraged to share an example of your work that demonstrates your skills and experience. The Job:Design and build prototypes and production electronic systems, including circuit design, PCB layout, embedded firmware development, bring up and validationOwn projects, not skills - this role is for a \"full-stack\" engineer with a focus on shipping products, not a specialist in any one area of electronics engineeringGo beyond the board - be responsible for the design of subsystems such as sensors, actuators, and optoelectronics that require tradeoffs between electrical and mechanical requirementsBack up your design decisions with data gathered through simulations and experimentsHone your skills and grow: engineers at Formlabs have grown into deep technical experts, system architects, product technical leads, and team leaders / managers. We support talented people growing in any direction. You:Have a minimum of 2 years of experience designing and debugging electronics that have gone into productsAre an electrical engineering generalist, comfortable with analog and digital design, PCB layout, validation, and debugging techniquesAre comfortable working with electronics that interact with the physical world - our most complex problems tend to involve the integration of electronics, mechanical designs, and software. Are hands-on and interested in supporting your designs throughout the product life cycle, from early research to debugging field failuresBonus Skills:Familiarity with embedded software development, for example: microcontroller firmware developed in C or C++, device drivers or board support packages for embedded Linux systems, or C++ application development. Hardware design is a core part of our team's responsibilities, but we also extend into low-level software development when knowledge of the physical system is key to writing the best code. Our Benefits & Perks:Robust equity program to build future wealth through RSUsComprehensive healthcare coverage (Medical, Dental, Vision)401K matching and access to financial advisorsGenerous paid Parental Leave (up to 16 weeks)Tenure-based paid Sabbatical Leave (up to 6 weeks)Flexible Out of Office Plan – Take time when you need itAmple on-site parking & pre-tax commuter benefitsHealthy on-site lunches, snacks, beverages, & treatsRegular sponsored professional development opportunitiesMany opt-in culture events across our diverse communityAnd of course… unlimited 3D printsWe are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
