Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking an exceptional Electrical Engineer with 2-5 years of experience for Boston on-site work. The role focuses on board-level designs for embedded systems, including cabling, EMC, and cross-disciplinary collaboration across mechanical, electrical, software, and human factors teams.

The ideal candidate will design analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits, perform PCB layout, and contribute to safety testing and documentation.

Qualifications

• BSEE or equivalent from an accredited engineering program; advanced degree or specialized experience is a plus.
• 2–5 years of electrical engineering experience.
• Analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit development and troubleshooting.
• Board-level design for embedded systems including cabling and EMC considerations.

Responsibilities

• Electronics prototyping: evaluation boards, custom circuits, sensors, motors, and peripherals.
• Design, simulation, and prototyping of mixed-signal systems for embedded applications and robotics.

Job description

We are looking for an exceptional Electrical Engineer with 2-5 years of experience who can develop creative, robust solutions to complex problems. Your skills demonstrate a broad base of practical knowledge, but you have the ability to ‘go theoretical’ to attain the necessary results.

You are also motivated to document and communicate the elements of your designs to fellow teammates. You are interested in contributing to teams from multiple disciplines including: mechanical, electrical, software, and human factors engineers; industrial and human interface designers, usability specialists, and design strategists.

The primary responsibilities will be developing board-level solutions for embedded systems (including cabling, EMC, and process-driven documentation). Secondary responsibilities include multi-discipline system architecture (electronics, software, and mechanical systems). You must adapt to challenges and be able to search out new technologies and make recommendations on how to apply them.

Responsibilities

• Electronics prototyping; combining evaluation boards with custom circuits, sensors, motors, and other peripheral hardware
• Mixed-signal circuit design; design, simulation, and prototyping of analog and digital systems, largely for use in embedded applications, medical devices, and robotics platforms
• PCBA design; schematic capture, PCB layout and layout management
• Participate in EMC and safety testing per project requirements; identify design safety and compliance risks, prepare and test device and/or electrical subsystems, troubleshoot and revise electrical designs
• Presenting to internal teams as well as external clients and stakeholders; regularly building presentations and reports to drive brainstorming, communicate designs, and share status updates
• Work onsite in our Boston studio 3 days a week on average

Requirements

• BSEE or equivalent from an accredited engineering program – an advanced degree or specialized industry experience is a plus
• 2-5 years of electrical engineering experience
• Analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit development and troubleshooting
• Design, implementation, and rework of board-level circuit design, especially targeted toward embedded systems
• PCB layout
• Cabling design and assembly
• Practical working knowledge of design for electromagnetic compatibility
• Excellent lab, instrumentation, and analysis skills
• Ability to answer questions in a clear manner
• Ability to manage time and risk as it relates to the project scope
• Ability to communicate status and risks to managers in a timely manner

Nice to have

• Demonstrated experience in several of the following areas: embedded systems programming; programmable logic design (FPGA, CPLD) and digital simulation; wireless systems and module integration (e.g., RFID, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LoRa); wireless system design, including transceiver design, antenna design, and baseband development; sensor technologies, etc.
