Job summary

The Electrical Engineer at The Planet Group in Batavia, IL will design, develop, validate, and support electrical systems for commercial equipment throughout the product lifecycle, including concept, prototyping, testing, production launch, and sustaining engineering. This hands-on role requires collaboration with design, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, sales, and suppliers.

You will create schematics and wiring diagrams, lead product validation and reliability testing, and drive design

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5–7 years designing electrical systems for commercial equipment or similar products.
• Experience supporting products through full development lifecycle from concept to production.
• Experience in manufacturing environments with production support and continuous improvement.
• Experience with electrical testing, troubleshooting, validation and failure analysis.
• Familiarity with regulatory safety standards (UL/CSA/ETL/DOE) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain electrical systems for commercial equipment across the lifecycle.
• Develop electrical schematics and wiring diagrams; create BOMs and docs using SolidWorks/AutoCAD.
• Collaborate with Design Engineering to integrate electrical and mechanical systems.
• Produce and update technical documentation in line with standards and configuration control.
• Lead and support product validation, testing, and reliability analyses.
• Work with Manufacturing to troubleshoot issues, support pilot builds, and improve processes.
• Coordinate with Supply Chain to qualify components and support cost reduction initiatives.

Bonus: 7% annual bonus

The Electrical Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager and plays a key role in the design, development, validation, and continuous improvement of equipment. This position is responsible for electrical system design and support throughout the product lifecycle, including concept development, prototyping, testing, production launch, and sustaining engineering

.Working closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Sales, and suppliers, the Electrical Engineer develops practical, reliable, and cost-effective electrical solutions that meet customer expectations while supporting manufacturability, product quality, and regulatory compliance. This role requires a hands‑on engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges both in the engineering lab and on the manufacturing floor

Key Results Area

• s Design, develop, and maintain electrical systems for commercial foodservice equipment, including heating circuits, temperature controls, wiring harnesses, sensors, and power distribution component
