Timmons Group is currently seeking an Electrical Drafter or Designer to join Power Engineering and Systems Planning Group's Renewable Energy team in our Charlotte, NC office location. Strong candidates located in other geographic locations will be considered to work remotely. This group focuses on power generation and renewable energy projects around the country including solar farms and battery storage projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with drafting and design tasks for renewable projects, including physical and civil layout drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Develop proficiency in CAD software while adhering to client standards, practices, and procedures to ensure compliance with project expectations
  • Learn and apply standards, procedures and processes in project execution
  • Collaborate with team members to resolve design challenges and seek guidance from experienced professionals
  • Demonstrate initiative and attention to detail in assigned tasks

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • Associate's degree or technical certification in drafting, or equivalent industry experience
  • Ideal candidates will have two (2) or more years of professional experience
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, ideally in an engineering environment
  • Knowledge of substation electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and/or substation physical/civil drawings
  • Experience using Autodesk Raster Design and Bentley Descartes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong mathematical skills and experience working with scaled drawings
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and accountable for assigned responsibilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future
