Job Description

Timmons Group is currently seeking an Electrical Drafter or Designer to join the Power Engineering and Systems Planning Group’s Renewable Energy team in our Charlotte, NC office. Strong candidates from other locations willing to work remotely will also be considered. This group focuses on power generation and renewable energy projects, including solar farms and battery storage projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist with drafting and design tasks for renewable projects, including physical and civil layout drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Develop proficiency in CAD software, adhering to client standards and project requirements.
• Learn and apply standards, procedures, and processes in project execution.
• Collaborate with team members to resolve design challenges and seek guidance from experienced professionals.
• Demonstrate initiative and attention to detail in all tasks.

Skills/Requirements include but are not limited to:

• Associate’s degree or technical certification in drafting, or equivalent industry experience.
• Two or more years of professional experience preferred.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, ideally in an engineering environment.
• Knowledge of substation electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Experience with Autodesk Raster Design and Bentley Descartes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong mathematical skills and experience with scaled drawings.
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and responsible.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Legal eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
