Job description

Timmons Group is currently seeking an Electrical Drafter or Designer to join the Power Engineering and Systems Planning Group’s Renewable Energy team in our Charlotte, NC office. Strong candidates from other locations may work remotely. This team focuses on power and renewable energy projects across the country, including solar farms and battery storage projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assist with drafting and design tasks for renewable projects, including physical and civil layout drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
2. Develop proficiency in CAD software while adhering to client standards, practices, and procedures to ensure project compliance.
3. Learn and apply standards, procedures, and processes in project execution.
4. Collaborate with team members to resolve design challenges and seek guidance from experienced professionals.
5. Demonstrate initiative and attention to detail in assigned tasks.

Skills/Requirements

1. Associate’s degree or technical certification in drafting, or equivalent industry experience.
2. Two (2) or more years of professional experience preferred.
3. Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation in an engineering environment.
4. Knowledge of substation electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and civil drawings.
5. Experience with Autodesk Raster Design and Bentley Descartes.
6. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
7. Strong mathematical skills and experience working with scaled drawings.
8. Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and responsible.
9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
10. Legally eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
