Job summary

Ellaway Blues Consulting is seeking a Senior Electrical Drafter/Designer to join the Dallas/Fort Worth engineering team. You will contribute to the development of a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, creating detailed electrical drawings and design packages from concept through commissioning.

You will work across the lifecycle with engineers and contractors, ensuring compliance with NEC/NFPA standards and delivering accurate, construction-ready documentation for complex industrial projects.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of electrical drafting and design experience within industrial, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Revit, and SolidWorks.
• Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems including power distribution, MCCs, switchgear, PLCs, and control panels.
• Experience developing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment layouts, and construction documentation.
• Familiarity with NEC and NFPA industry standards.
• Ability to interpret engineering specifications and independently produce accurate electrical drawings.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex industrial projects.
• Electrical drafting and design experience supporting greenfield facilities, plant expansions, or major capital projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop and revise detailed 2D and 3D electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and cable routing plans.
• Produce construction-ready electrical design packages, including BOMs, equipment layouts, and technical documentation.
• Support electrical power distribution, switchgear, MCCs, PLCs, instrumentation, and industrial control systems.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers, controls engineers, mechanical teams, and contractors throughout the lifecycle.
• Incorporate engineering specs, vendor drawings, and field modifications into design packages.
• Ensure drawings comply with NEC, NEMA, NFPA, IEC, and ISA standards.
• Maintain drawing revisions, document control, and as-built records.
• Provide drafting support during installation, construction, and commissioning.

We are partnering with a rapidly growing U.S.-based advanced manufacturing organization seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Drafter / Electrical Designer to join its expanding engineering team in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development of a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, supporting electrical and control system design from initial engineering concepts through construction and commissioning.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and revise detailed 2D and 3D electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and cable routing plans.
• Produce construction-ready electrical design packages, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), equipment layouts, and technical documentation.
• Support electrical power distribution, switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), PLCs, instrumentation, and industrial control systems.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers, controls engineers, mechanical teams, and contractors throughout the engineering and construction lifecycle.
• Incorporate engineering specifications, vendor drawings, and field modifications into electrical design packages.
• Ensure electrical drawings comply with applicable NEC, NEMA, NFPA, IEC, and ISA standards.
• Maintain accurate drawing revisions, document control, and as-built records.
• Provide technical drafting support during equipment installation, construction, and commissioning.
