Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT is seeking a Dock Technician – Electrical to support waterfront operations across dry docks, Sea Shuttle, Holland, and future floating docks. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance on power and lighting distribution, alarms, HVAC, motors, and transformers, plus maintaining watch logs and performing safety inspections.

Qualifications

HS or equivalent is required.
2+ years technical experience is required.
Background and knowledge of electrical systems.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems using technical publications and drawings.

Responsibilities

Maintain and operate equipment associated with dry docks and Sea Shuttle, including distribution, alarms, HVAC, motors, controllers and transformers.
Maintain watchstanding and maintenance logs.
Inspect dry dock and pier areas for safety and fire hazards.
Work at height and in confined spaces; climb ladders up to 50 feet.
Assist in moving and positioning ships in and out of dry dock; support docking/undocking evolutions.
Travel by tug to support transportation of hull sections and equipment between Groton, Quonset Point, Philadelphia and Newport News Shipbuilding/Norfolk.
Perform on-the-job training and qualify on dry dock, floating dock, Holland and Sea Shuttle systems.
