Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT is seeking a Dockcrew Technician - Electrical 3/C for premium posting. The role supports waterfront operations, maintenance on dry docks and Sea Shuttle, and occasional long tug trips between Groton, Quonset Point, and Newport News.

The successful candidate will have electrical knowledge, be able to climb ladders, perform rounds, work overtime, and obtain fall protection and aerial lift qualifications; prior shipyard or tug experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• HS or equivalent is required or 2+ years technical experience.
• Background and knowledge of electrical systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and components using technical publications and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and operate equipment at dry docks and Sea Shuttle.
• Perform rounds and inspections for safety and fire hazards.
• Be willing to travel by tug boats between Groton, Quonset Point, Philadelphia, Newport News Shipbuilding, and Norfolk Naval Shipyard as needed.
• Work overtime including weekends/holidays and odd hours to support docking/undocking and training evolutions.
• Complete extensive on-the-job training and qualify on dry dock, floating dock, Holland and Sea Shuttle systems.
