Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp seeks an Engineer to enhance the reliability of Pennsylvania's distribution systems. The role involves data analysis, planning, and coordination across PA Operating Areas, with onsite work at multiple service centers in Hanover, Gettysburg, or York.

Requirements include a B.S. in Engineering/Engineering Technology from ABET-accredited programs (PE license is a plus or equivalent), and strong knowledge of NESC/NEC. Willingness to travel and work irregular hours is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering/Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited institution is required.
• Professional Engineer's (PE) license is a plus or alternative qualifications include a non-ABET degree with advanced engineering degree.
• Experience with electrical systems, operations, maintenance, switching and tagging, computer systems, work management and electrical controls is desired.
• Relay control work experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of NESC and NEC is required or desired.

Responsibilities

• Assessing and improving the electrical distribution system's reliability performance for all Pennsylvania Operating Areas.
• Developing and maintaining strategic plans to achieve reliability targets and modernization.
• Developing and overseeing long-term infrastructure improvement plans (LTIIP).
• Supporting PA Operations through data analysis including outages, circuit lockouts, DEMI, CEMI, and worst performing circuits.
• Preparing and presenting reliability performance and regulatory required reports.
• Preparing budget estimates and schedules for distribution system reliability projects.
• Supporting customer inquiry responses and power quality studies as needed.
• Monitoring field inoperable equipment logs for remediation needs.
• Developing technical information to support the Distribution Control Center for safe operation.
• Supporting the storm process as needed.
