Job summary

Thayer Infrastructure Services seeks an Electrical Distribution Engineer to join our team and contribute to design, analysis, and implementation of electrical distribution systems for IOUs, coops, and municipalities.

You will develop designs for overhead and underground distribution (4kV–35kV), perform load flow and short-circuit studies, prepare drawings and estimates, and coordinate with utilities and clients to meet standards and timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 2+ years in electrical distribution design or utility engineering.
• Experience with overhead and underground distribution systems.
• Knowledge of power systems, protective devices, and construction practices.
• Familiarity with power system modeling software (CYME/ETAP/PSS/E).
• EIT or PE license preferred (or ability to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Develop engineering designs for overhead and underground distribution systems (4kV–35kV).
• Perform power system studies including load flow analysis, short circuit studies, and protection coordination.
• Prepare construction drawings, material lists, and cost estimates for distribution projects.
• Coordinate with utilities, municipalities, and private clients to deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Ensure designs meet NESC, IEEE, and client standards.
