Job summary

KBSO Consulting LLC is seeking an experienced Electrical Discipline Lead to oversee design for MEPT projects. You will manage staffing, mentor engineers, and ensure timely delivery while maintaining high technical standards.

The role requires a 4-year EE degree, 10 years in building design, and proficiency in Revit MEP and AutoCAD. A PE license is preferred, with a hybrid work policy and ongoing professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Must have a four-year accredited Electrical Engineering program or related field.
  • Ten years of design experience in building design projects.
  • Proficiency in Revit MEP and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain Professional Engineer license.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical design across projects including power, lighting, and fire alarm systems.
  • Coach and train electrical staff; conduct performance reviews and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Coordinate MEPT components in Revit and AutoCAD; ensure design conformance to codes.

The duties and responsibilities of an Electrical Discipline Lead include but are not limited to:

Staffing
  • Interviews and hires for all electrical design employees.
  • Responsible for training electrical design employees and assistance with technical questions and guidance.
  • Monitors progress of projects, confers with project managers, and oversee all aspects of engineering design, specific to the electrical discipline within designated projects
  • Maintain regular team meetings for electrical staff to share knowledge and discuss challenges.
  • Perform annual staff reviews and provide performance feedback.
  • Identify performance problems and perform disciplinary action.
Technical Design
  • Evaluate electrical systems, products, components, and applications by designing and applying knowledge of power, power distribution, and lighting systems
  • Develop electrical design of lighting, power, and fire alarm systems to meet client requirements
  • Prepare and study technical drawings and specifications of electrical systems to ensure that installation and operations conform to code standards
  • Cross-discipline coordination of MEPT components within Revit and AutoCAD
  • Ability to write and edit design specifications
  • Ability to listen to others, express ideas effectively, and provide relevant and timely information to co-workers and clients both verbally and in writing
  • Conduct field surveys to determine existing project conditions
  • Conduct construction site visits to ensure systems are installed per drawings and specifications
  • Respond to contractor RFIs and review project shop drawings/submittals
  • Emphasis on timely and accurate execution of deadlines
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Four-year accredited program in Electrical Engineering or related field of study
  • Ten years of design experience within the building design sector
  • Revit and AutoCAD Proficiency
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
Preferred Skills
  • Revit MEP
  • Maintain or able to obtain a Professional Engineer License
  • Graduate degree in engineering or related field of study
