Job summary

New Flyer is seeking an Electrical Engineer or Designer to join a brand-new Engineering Services team focused on improving vehicle diagnostics and troubleshooting across platforms. You will participate in design releases, programming and diagnostic development, reporting to the Engineering Design Manager.

The role emphasizes collaboration with Electrical Engineering and Smart Bus Technology teams, ensuring timely completion of tasks from design to production, with travel up to 15% to Canada.

Qualifications

• University Degree or Technical Diploma in electrical engineering or related field.
• 1-5 years of experience in electrical engineering.
• Strong understanding of control system algorithms and multiplexing system logic.
• Experience with CAN/J1939 Ethernet communication protocols preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance diagnostic methods for vehicle electrical systems.
• Monitor vehicle electrical issues across fleets and devise mitigation.
• Assess new systems for diagnostic capability and address gaps.
• Prepare data and reports on project status.
• Coordinate with Production, Quality Assurance, Customer Service and others as required.
• Interact with vendors and customers on design related issues and document vendor approvals.
• Complete diagnostic testing of components and systems to meet requirements.
• Assist Designer/Draftsperson on tasks as required by Design Manager.
• Other duties as assigned.
