Job summary

NFI Group Inc. is seeking an Electrical Development Specialist in Minnesota (Crookston or St. Cloud) to provide practical and technical training within the Electrical Department.

The role supports the Learning Institute, onboarding, certification programs, and quality improvements in electrical safety and performance. With 5+ years in electrical technician roles and strong schematics/data sheet skills, you will lead development programs, enforce safety standards, and mentor SWIs/PQSs while

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an electrical technician role with a focus on OJT techniques and training plans.
  • Deep understanding of engineering schematics/drawings and their practical application.
  • Ability to interpret and apply electrical data sheets.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple training programs and priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver practical and technical training to the Electrical Department and support Learning Institute and Production teams.
  • Collaborate with customers, managers, and the Learning Institute to assess competency gaps and define training needs.
  • Enforce electrical safety standards and report/correct unsafe practices.
  • Mentor the Electrical Cell Team in observing and refining SWIs and PQSs.
  • Analyze performance measures (MOPs) to determine need for training interventions.
  • Develop training methods and evaluate training effectiveness and cost-benefit.
  • Lead Learning Institute administrative processes and maintain training matrices.
  • Organize electrical resources with Electrical Leadership to schedule training.

Position Summary

As an Electrical Development Specialist at New Flyer, you will provide practical and technical training to the Electrical Department while supporting the Learning Institute and Production teams. This role is responsible for identifying training opportunities, developing and delivering classroom and on-the-job training, supporting electrical onboarding and certification programs, and helping improve electrical quality, safety, and performance.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Deliver practical and technical training to the Electrical Department while collaborating with the Learning Institute to plan, select resources for, and execute development programs that ensure a skilled workforce
  • Partnerwith customers, managers, and the Learning Institute to establish performance standards, assess competency gaps, and define targeted training needs across the Electrical Department
  • Manage Compliance & Safety: Enforce strict adherence to electrical safety standards and proactively report and correct unsafe practices or workplace conditions
  • Mentor the Electrical Cell Team in observing, drafting, and refining Standard Work Instructions (SWIs) and Performance Qualification Standards (PQSs)
  • Analyze measures of performance (MOPs) relevant to the area of specialization, root cause and determine if relevant training interventions are necessary
  • Support in the development of training methods such as evaluation and validation and determine the effectiveness of the training to validate the cost benefit
  • Lead Learning Institute administrative processes, including course material preparation, attendance tracking, course evaluations, and Training Matrix maintenance
  • Identifies, develops and organizes electrical resources in cooperation with Electrical Leadership to schedule electrical personnel required to participate in any classroom and/or on-the-job training
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an electrical technician role with a focus of on-the-Job training (OJT) techniques and utilization of training plans and conducting practical training
  • Deep understanding of engineering schematics/drawings, with the ability to interpret and apply them in practical applications
  • Ability to interpret and apply electrical data sheets
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple training programs and priorities simultaneously
  • Electrical certification, diploma, or degree from a post‑secondary institution preferred, or equivalent related work experience
