Job summary

Alexander Dennis, a global leader in bus manufacturing, is seeking an Electrical Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. You will help ensure plant Delivery, Cost, Quality, and Safety goals are met, supporting production on the line and leading continuous improvement projects from concept to introduction.

You will read electrical drawings, troubleshoot vehicles, develop SOPs, support ECRs, and collaborate across functions to optimize layouts and line performance.

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering (or related technical field).
  • 3–5 years hands-on manufacturing experience, preferably in vehicle manufacturing.
  • Strong electrical engineering background and wiring/schematic troubleshooting.
  • Experience reading electrical schematics, drawings, and blueprints.
  • Experience leading or supporting Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Champion safety with safe working practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement of manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, cost efficiency, and quality.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and process issues on the production line and production floor.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting on vehicles and implement corrective actions.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to support assembly, diagnostics, and process improvements.
  • Standardize and optimize operations by developing and maintaining SOPs, Safe Working Practices, and line build documentation.
  • Lead and support Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), ensuring accurate implementation and documentation of design and process changes.
  • Enhance production efficiency with workstation layouts, takt charts, time studies, kit lists, and travel documents.
  • Collaborate with teams by attending line support meetings, escalating and resolving issues, and assisting with build hour reviews.
  • Provide technical expertise in tools, equipment procurement, and process monitoring.
  • Deliver results that meet KPIs and support long-term operational success.

POSITION SUMMARY:

We’re looking for an Electrical Manufacturing Engineer to join our team and play a key role in ensuring our plant meets its Delivery, Cost, Quality, and Safety goals. In this role, you’ll be hands‑on in supporting production, leading continuous improvement initiatives, and delivering projects from concept to introduction in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Champion safety by introducing and ensuring adherence to safe working practices
  • Drive continuous improvement across manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, cost efficiency, and quality
  • Support production flow by troubleshooting and resolving electrical and process issues on the manufacturing line and production floor
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting on vehicles, identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to support assembly, diagnostics, and process improvements
  • Standardize and optimize operations through developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Safe Working Practices, and line build documentation
  • Lead and support Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), ensuring accurate implementation and documentation of design and process changes
  • Enhance production efficiency with effective workstation and line layouts, takt charts, time studies, kit lists, and travel documents
  • Collaborate with teams by attending line support meetings, escalating and resolving issues, and assisting with build hour reviews
  • Provide technical expertise in tools, equipment procurement, and process monitoring
  • Deliver results that meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and support long-term operational success
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent technical education/experience)
  • 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within vehicle manufacturing (e.g., buses, automotive, heavy equipment, RVs, or similar industries)
  • Strong background in electrical engineering and electrical systems troubleshooting (essential)
  • Experience working directly on vehicles within a production or manufacturing setting
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings
  • Experience supporting or leading Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) within a production environment
  • Experience conducting time studies and applying process optimization techniques
  • Proven track record of process analysis and continuous improvement projects
  • Experience with Lean tools and structured problem‑solving methodologies
  • Strong communication, organizational, and presentation skills, with the ability to work across all business levels
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross‑functional teams
  • Familiarity with systems such as QPulse or Syspro (a plus but not required)
