Job summary

The Toro Company, based in Minnesota, seeks an Electrical Designer to take electrical systems from concept to production. You will design schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness docs, collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop reliable, manufacturable solutions across prototype, pilot, and production stages.

• Associate or technical degree in Electrical, Electronics, Design, Engineering Technology, or related technical discipline.
• Designer III: 4+ years related experience; Designer IV: 7+ years.
• Ability to create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, harness drawings and documentation.
• Experience with electrical design calculations for current, voltage, and power.
• Experience with CAD tools; Arcadia or Creo Schematic preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently across teams.
• Travel to test sites, vendors, facilities, and customers as required.

Job Purpose

We’re looking for an Electrical Designer to help bring electrical solutions from concept to production for The Toro Company’s products. In this position, you will design and develop electrical systems, wiring harnesses, schematics, and associated electrical components. Working as part of a cross-functional team, you will support new product development, product improvements, and current product engineering by developing reliable and manufacturable solutions through prototype, pilot, and production.

What Will You Do?

• Apply established electrical design standards and leverage proven electrical solutions across products and programs where appropriate.
• Select and apply electrical components including connectors, terminals, switches, sensors, solenoids, actuators, solid-state devices, wiring, and other electrical assemblies.
• Use Arcadia to prepare and maintain electrical schematics and harness documentation, and coordinate harness routings with project teams.
• Coordinate electrical work with project schedules and proactively communicate milestones, risks, dependencies, and issues that could affect release timing or builds.
• Work with suppliers and internal teams to address design feasibility, component selection, technical issues, lead times, and manufacturing requirements.
• Support prototype, pilot, and production builds and resolve electrical design, harness routing, manufacturing, and documentation issues.
• Provide technical guidance to technicians, drafters, and other project team members.
• Coordinate engineering changes and releases through appropriate configuration control and ECM processes.
• Incorporate prototype, manufacturing, field, and supplier lessons learned into future designs and documentation.

What Do You Need?

• Associate’s degree or technical degree in Electrical, Electronics, Design, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.
• Designer III: Minimum of 4 years of related experience.
• Designer IV: Minimum of 7 years of related experience.
• Ability to create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, harness drawings, and related technical documentation.
• Ability to perform electrical design calculations involving current, voltage, and power, and apply them to wiring and component selection.
• Experience with computer-aided design and electrical design tools. Experience with Arcadia or Creo Schematic is preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks, and competing priorities.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across project teams.
• Travel to test sites, vendors, manufacturing facilities, customers, and other locations as required.

How To Stand Out

• Experience with off-road equipment, turf care equipment, agricultural machinery, construction equipment, automotive systems, or other mobile equipment.
• Familiarity with vehicle electrical architecture, CAN bus systems, controllers, sensors, and embedded control systems.
• Experience working directly with electrical harness and component suppliers.
• Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles.

• Competitive Salary – The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is between $96,900- $121,000 Cash compensation is one piece of our competitive total rewards package. You may be eligible to participate in an incentive program, which rewards employees based on individual and organizational performance.
