Our rapidly growing Industrial Engineering team, which includes process, mechanical, electrical, controls, structural, architectural, geotechnical, and civil disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on EPC and design-build delivery of industrial projects in markets such as Food & Beverage, Mineral Processing, Renewable Fuels, Pulp and Paper, Steel & Aluminum, Industrial Buildings, and Industrial Energy, Water and Utilities.

Location

This position is based out of Lenexa, KS office. Opportunities for flexible work are available.

Responsibilities
  1. Utilize SmartPlant and Revit 3D design tools to design and draft drawings for electrical systems for buildings and industrial facilities, which can include wiring, power distribution diagrams, electrical schematics, circuit diagrams, raceway design/sizing, equipment layout, cable management systems, sizing of cables, grounding layout, lighting, lightning protection, equipment locations, conduit layout.
  2. Utilize codes and standards to complete assignments with little supervision.
  3. Identify changes in the scope of work during a small project and produce design changes as needed to stay within budget and schedule.
  4. Take initiative to meet or exceed the quality and expected outcome requirements of internal and external customers.
  5. Perform assigned work efficiently and effectively to maximize productivity while complying with company standards to produce quality deliverables.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelors degree or Associates degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology and a minimum of 4 years Electrical and/or I&C design/drafting experience, which includes experience working in 3D and 2D. If no degree, High School diploma + 8 years’ related experience.
  2. Intermediate AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Revit or Microstation skills, experience with design/drafting for drawings, P&IDs, One Line Diagrams, Panel designs, electrical layouts. Develop and present work in well-constructed written and verbal presentations.
  3. Work collaboratively across departments and involve others in solving problems. Initiate meetings within own team, other disciplines or internal customers for clarity on work.
  4. Support project teams and departments with design support for drawings, specifications, IO Lists. Work well with others to accomplish common goals and objectives. Understanding of NEC code and ANSI/IEEE standards.
  5. Able to manage multiple responsibilities with set expectations and meet deadlines.
  6. Experience working with multi-disciplined teams and subcontractors for equipment. Experience with design for construction preferred; Design/Build, EPC project experience preferred.

  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
  • May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.
