Job description

This is a project-based employee role supporting the design, integration, and validation of ASI's autonomous reach stacker platforms. Development phases of this nature typically continue through project completion, often spanning two to four years, although scope and duration are determined by business and customer needs.

Job Summary

The Electrical Designer II supports the design, documentation, integration, and release of electrical systems for ASI's autonomous reach stacker platforms. This role creates and maintains electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, harness documentation, panel layouts, installation details, bills of materials, and related technical documentation needed to build, test, and support autonomous heavy equipment.

As a Level II designer, this position independently completes defined electrical design and documentation tasks while working under the guidance of electrical engineers and senior technical team members. The role supports the integration of sensors, computers, controllers, power distribution, communication networks, safety circuits, and vehicle interfaces required for autonomous reach stacker operation in container-handling and material-handling environments.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Create, update, and maintain electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, harness drawings, schematics, cable assemblies, and installation documentation
  • Support electrical design activities for autonomous reach stacker platforms, subsystems, and vehicle integration projects
  • Develop and maintain electrical documentation for sensors, embedded computers, controllers, communication systems, power distribution, safety circuits, and vehicle interfaces
  • Assist with wire harness design, connector selection, pinouts, cable routing, strain relief, labeling, and installation details
  • Create and maintain bills of materials, part lists, drawing packages, revision records, and release documentation
  • Support layout and documentation of electrical panels, control boxes, junction boxes, sensor mounts, wiring routes, and integration hardware
  • Work with electrical engineers to translate design concepts, markups, sketches, redlines, and requirements into accurate production-ready documentation
  • Support integration of cameras, LiDAR, radar, GPS/GNSS, IMUs, antennas, compute hardware, vehicle controllers, and communication equipment
  • Support documentation for CAN networks, Ethernet communication, power circuits, grounding, fusing, relays, switches, emergency stops, and safety-related electrical systems
  • Assist with electrical design changes, engineering change requests, engineering change orders, and drawing-release processes
  • Review drawings and documentation for accuracy, completeness, manufacturability, serviceability, and compliance with team standards
  • Support prototype builds, vehicle integration, troubleshooting, and installation activities in shop and field environments
  • Work with technicians, engineers, manufacturing, test, and field teams to resolve documentation or installation questions
  • Capture and incorporate redlines, field feedback, build feedback, and test findings into updated electrical documentation
  • Support troubleshooting of electrical integration issues involving wiring, connectors, sensors, power, communication, controls, and documentation discrepancies
  • Maintain organized CAD files, drawing packages, documentation records, and configuration-controlled design data
  • Participate in design reviews, build reviews, and technical discussions related to electrical system integration
  • Support vendor, supplier, and manufacturing communication related to harnesses, cables, components, and drawing packages
  • Follow ASI documentation standards, revision-control processes, safety expectations, and quality practices
  • Support customer deployments, field updates, or system reviews as required
