Job summary

Knobelsdorff in the United States is seeking an Electrical Designer to bridge estimation and operations on design-build projects across diverse facilities. You will collaborate with estimators, pre-construction, drafters, and project managers to finalize designs ready for construction.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on knowledge of NEC, electrical construction practices, and software like BlueBeam, Revit, AutoCAD, and Procore, plus a Journeyman Electrician’s License or related degree.

Qualifications

  • Experience with BlueBeam, Revit, AutoCAD, and Procore.
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Manage project files, drawings, documents & records in our project system.
  • Journeyman Electrician's License, a degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related, or equivalent combination of field experience/education.
  • Knowledge of motor control devices such as VFDs, Soft Starts, Networked MCCs, and traditional across the line starters.
  • Knowledge of network cabling, instrumentation, Fire Alarm, and Door access/Security systems.

Responsibilities

  • Verify vendor quotes and provide submittal packages.
  • Participate in customer/client design review meetings and presentations.
  • Assist in leading/managing engineering needs to ensure final product matches the KE-Way design.
  • Complete conceptual engineering and or design for the following: sizing conduit/cable to serve electrical equipment such as MCCs, Switchboards, Panelboards, and Transformers.
  • Comprehend MCC BOMs and quotes to ensure sizing, layouts, and controller types are accurate.
  • Comprehend Switchgear BOMs and quotes to ensure sizing, layouts, and over current protection types are correct.
  • Build conduit cable schedules to serve motors, controls and instrumentation devices.
  • Branch Circuiting and MV Distribution systems incl. MV transformers and related equipment.
  • Act as a bridge from estimating to operations or concept to reality.
