Job summary

Midwest Ag Electric Inc. is seeking an Electrical Designer / Design-Build Specialist to strengthen our internal electrical design capabilities. This role focuses on livestock and agricultural facilities and collaborates with operations, project managers, field leaders, utilities, and equipment suppliers.

You will translate project requirements into safe, code-compliant, construction-ready designs while supporting field installation and design standards development.

Responsibilities

• Create electrical one-lines, layouts, panel schedules, and construction drawings.
• Develop electrical service, feeder, panel, equipment power, generator, and automatic transfer switch designs.
• Perform load calculations, feeder sizing, voltage-drop reviews, and other project calculations.
• Apply the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable project requirements.
• Develop and maintain standard details and specifications for recurring applications.
• Coordinate project requirements with Project Managers, utilities, equipment suppliers, engineers, general contractors, and other trades.
• Identify missing information, design conflicts, and coordination issues before they reach the field whenever possible.
• Maintain current design documents and clearly communicate revisions that may affect project scope, materials, cost, or schedule.
• Design electrical systems with actual field installation in mind.
• Consider labor efficiency, accessibility, sequencing, serviceability, and safety.
• Visit jobsites and work with Site Supervisors and electricians to understand field conditions.
• Help troubleshoot design-related questions and use field feedback to improve future designs.
• Help Project Managers with defined project scope, current drawings, equipment requirements, open decisions, assumptions, and known project risks.
• Identify major equipment, long-lead items, and material requirements early in the project.
• Support accurate material lists and Remarcable workflows as the role develops.
• Help build MAE's electrical design standards, including: One-lines, Templates, Calculation sheets, Customer-specific standards, Capture lessons learned from completed projects and field feedback.

Midwest Ag Electric is looking for an Electrical Designer / Design-Build Specialist to help strengthen and grow our internal electrical design capabilities.

This is not a drafting-only position.

You will work directly with Operations, Project Managers, field leaders, utilities, engineers, equipment suppliers, and other project partners across a wide range of electrical construction projects.

A strong focus of this position will be on livestock and agricultural facilities, including swine, poultry, and dairy operations. Projects range from facility upgrades and expansions to large-scale, multi-building agricultural developments.

The goal of this position is to turn project requirements into clear, construction-ready electrical designs that are safe, code-compliant, practical to build, and cost-effective.

What You'll DoElectrical Design
