Job summary

Paylocity is seeking an Electrical Designer with 5+ years in engineering to design instrument & controls, wiring, and cabinet layouts for products and new rentals. The role includes QA checks, programming updates, field startup support, and travel to client sites.

You will review specs, generate CAD drawings using AutoCAD Electrical or similar, select hardware, and assist sales and PM in design discussions. Travel 10–25% is expected.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED
Two Year associated degree in electrical or automation field preferred
Minimum 5 years of Engineering and Technology experience
Experience using CAD software and electrical drafting tools
Knowledge of electrical power design and instrumentation

Responsibilities

Review customer specifications for compatibility with capabilities
Create CAD drawings for electrical panel layouts, wiring, and cabinets
Perform QA reviews of electrical systems and instrumentation
Assist project management in design changes and customer communications
Support field startups and installations at client sites
Work with PLC programming and HMI under supervision
