Job summary

Automationtechies in Florida is seeking a CAD Electrical Designer to develop and modify panel layouts, wiring diagrams, schematics, and control system drawings for projects and upgrades.

The role uses AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical to produce client drawings, review vendor documents, and support engineering teams to meet customer, quality, and schedule requirements. Occasional site visits and travel of 15–30% are expected.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or two-year degree in CAD/Design, Electrical Design, or related field preferred.
• 3–5 years of CAD design experience preferred.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD 2024 or newer and AutoCAD Electrical.
• Working knowledge of electrical drafting and design practices.
• Understanding of NFPA and NEC standards and their application.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical layouts for buildings, panels, lighting, power systems, and related equipment using standard drafting symbols and project specifications.
• Use AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical to create and modify client drawings, including general arrangements, wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, P&IDs, and other project documentation.
• Support electrical and control system design activities for project upgrades and modifications.
• Review vendor documentation and incorporate applicable information into design concepts under the direction of senior designers or engineering leadership.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, technical documentation, and equipment specifications.
• Apply knowledge of electrical design practices, construction, manufacturing, control systems, and electrical engineering principles.
• Work with project teams to provide engineering and design support and assist with problem-solving.
• Conduct site visits to inspect, measure, and assess existing conditions related to project upgrades.
• Maintain accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail while meeting project schedules and deadlines.
• Ensure designs meet customer requirements and applicable industry standards.
