Job summary

Harriman is seeking a licensed Electrical Designer to join our collaborative team in Portsmouth, NH. You will work under a licensed engineer to develop efficient, coordinated electrical designs for diverse project types and prime clients.

The role emphasizes teamwork with architects and other engineering studios, applying code requirements, performing calculations, and selecting equipment. A strong foundation in electrical engineering and Revit proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience.
• Undergraduate Degree (2 years minimum) in Electrical Engineering.
• Familiar with the basic structure of an engineering project.
• Proficient with the tools required to achieve project completion.

Responsibilities

• Work under the supervision of a licensed engineer to learn and become proficient in all aspects of electrical design.
• Perform tasks requiring independent judgment, including calculations and equipment selection.
• Take on tasks with less specific instruction and complete small projects independently.
• Complete small projects or portions of larger projects with minimal instruction and review.
• Collaborate with Project Manager and licensed engineer to ensure successful project completion.
• Investigate and visit existing structures to determine applicable conditions.

What You Will Do Here

• Work under the supervision of a licensed engineer to learn and become proficient in all aspects of electrical design.
• Learn tasks and begin to perform work requiring independent judgment, including calculations, equipment selection, application of code requirements, and applying design methods to proposed project plans.
• Take on tasks with less specific instruction and perform specific project tasks or complete small projects independently.
• Completes small projects or portions of larger projects with minimal instruction, with review by a licensed engineer.
• Work cooperatively with the Project Manager, Project Assistant, and licensed engineer to ensure the successful completion of all phases of the project.
• Investigate and/or visit existing structures to determine applicable conditions.

Requirements

What we are looking for:

• Minimum of 1 year of experience.
• Familiar with the principles of engineering, knowledge of advanced math, physics, and electrical science applicable to the field.
• Undergraduate Degree (2 years minimum) in Electrical Engineering (other engineering degrees to be considered on a case-by-case basis).
• Familiar with the basic structure of an engineering project and it’s elements.
• Proficient with the tools required to achieve project completion (ie software, reference documents, calculations, and contacts).
• Able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Proficient with Revit.
• Proficient with PDF Editing software such as Adobe or Bluebeam.
• Capable of utilizing additional software as needed to perform complex calculations.
• Microsoft Office Suite.
