Job summary

Harriman is seeking a qualified Electrical Designer to join our team in a collaborative environment. You will work under a licensed engineer, learning all aspects of electrical design and applying code requirements to diverse project plans.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of experience, a degree in Electrical Engineering, and proficiency with Revit, Bluebeam/Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office. Join Harriman to contribute to built environment projects with a holistic design approach.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience.
  • Familiar with the principles of engineering, knowledge of advanced math, physics, and electrical science applicable to the field.
  • Undergraduate Degree (2 years minimum) in Electrical Engineering (other engineering degrees to be considered on a case-by-case basis).
  • Familiar with the basic structure of an engineering project and it’s elements.
  • Proficient with the tools required to achieve project completion (ie software, reference documents, calculations, and contacts).
  • Able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficient with Revit.
  • Proficient with PDF Editing software such as Adobe or Bluebeam.
  • Capable of utilizing additional software as needed to perform complex calculations.
  • Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the supervision of a licensed engineer to learn and become proficient in all aspects of electrical design.
  • Learn tasks and begin to perform work requiring independent judgment, including calculations, equipment selection, application of code requirements, and applying design methods to proposed project plans.
  • Take on tasks with less specific instruction and perform specific project tasks or complete small projects independently.
  • Completes small projects or portions of larger projects with minimal instruction, with review by a licensed engineer.
  • Work cooperatively with the Project Manager, Project Assistant, and licensed engineer to ensure the successful completion of all phases of the project.
  • Investigate and/or visit existing structures to determine applicable conditions.

Harriman has an exciting opportunity for a qualified individual to join our firm as a licensed Electrical Designer. Harriman promotes a holistic and inclusive approach to design, and our electrical team works closely with our other internal architectural and engineering studios to develop high-level efficient and coordinated designs. Our electrical design staff also work directly with prime engineering clients on a diverse group of project types. What You Will Do Here
