Job summary

ALKAR is seeking an Electrical Designer to perform electrical design duties on assigned projects, including power distribution, machine control design, and instrument/control design. You will work independently on schematics and drawings per company standards to ensure customer satisfaction.

The role requires proficiency with CAD packages (AutoCAD) and strong analytical/communication skills, plus the ability to implement design changes and collaborate within the team to improve product

Qualifications

• Two-year associate degree or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency with CAD software, especially AutoCAD.
• 3–5 years of design experience with electrical components and pneumatic drawings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares drawings or schematics of electronic control systems for ALKAR products using CAD.
• Implements control design changes to resolve customer issues and improve quality.
• Adheres to ALKAR design standards and quality procedures in controls design.
• Implements in-house design changes to resolve field problems and improve performance.
• Performs additional duties as assigned by Controls Engineering Manager or Sr. Electrical Designer.

General Summary:

Electrical Designer is responsible for performing electrical design duties on assigned projects including power distribution, machine control design, and instrument and control design. In this role one must be able to work independently on assigned schematics and electrical drawings for ALKAR. Develops design drawings in accordance with Company design standards, practices and quality specifications to ensure customer satisfaction.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Prepares drawings or schematics of electronic control systems for ALKAR product lines using CAD packages.
• Makes and implements control design modifications to facilitate customer’s operation or product line quality issues.
• Understands and applies ALKAR design standards and practices, as well as quality system procedures to the controls design function.
• Implements in-house design changes to resolve customer field problems and improve product performance and reliability. Recommends solutions to problems. Process change orders and obtains the necessary approvals.
• Performs additional duties as assigned by Controls Engineering Manager or Sr. Electrical Designer.

Requirements

• Two-year associate degree in Technology Management or Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in latest design software (e.g. AutoCAD software).
• Three to five years experience in design work with electrical components and pneumatic drawings preferred. Sound understanding of national, state and local electrical codes.
• Good analytical and problem solving, verbal and written communication skills along with interpersonal and leadership skills to work effectively within a team environment.
• Ability to effectively check all drawings prior to submittal to customers or manufacturing.
