Job summary

Corbin Consulting Engineers in Hillsboro, Oregon seeks an electrical designer to join a multi-disciplinary team. The role focuses on electrical design for upgrades, new buildings, and facility expansions, with exposure to semiconductor tool installations.

You will collaborate with design managers and field teams, perform power calculations, lead information gathering, and contribute to construction phase services.

Qualifications

  • Junior to mid-level electrical designer with 2+ years of design experience in A/E consulting.
  • Knowledge of building codes and ability to perform power calculations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiar with AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; organized and accountable.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical design for upgrades and modifications to existing buildings and systems, as well as design of new buildings and facility expansions.
  • Size power circuits, conduits, and protection devices; validate panel capacities and perform voltage drop/short circuit calculations.
  • Lead effort to obtain and organize power, telecom, and control cabling information; review packages and verify installations.
  • Field verification of existing conditions and evaluation of available equipment power and telecom connections.
  • Coordinate with design team members across disciplines and participate in client design reviews.
  • Provide services during construction, including site observation reports and responses to RFIs.
  • Electrical semiconductor tool installation design with deliverables including schematics, data tables, cable schedules, and plans.

Summary:

We are seeking an electrical designer for our Hillsboro office who will work with a competent multi-disciplinary team of peers with a wide range of experience levels.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Electrical design for upgrades and modifications to existing buildings and systems, as well as design of new buildings and facility expansions.
  • Perform calculations to size power circuit overcurrent protection, conduit, and conductors, and validation of existing power panel, bus duct, and distribution board connection capacity. Perform voltage drop calculations and short circuit calculations to ensure available fault current at equipment does not exceed the equipment’s SCCR.
  • Lead effort to obtain and organize power, telecom, and control cabling information from multiple sources, review of existing design packages, and field verification of existing installations.
  • Field verification of existing conditions and evaluation of available equipment power and telecom points of connection in the facility.
  • Coordination with design team members, both within the electrical team and other disciplines.
  • Participation in client design review meetings and presentation of design strategies.
  • Services during construction, including field verification, site observation reports, responses to RFIs, and submittal reviews.
  • Electrical semiconductor tool installation design. Tool types range from simple to complex, for a variety of semiconductor clients. Construction drawing deliverables include schematic drawings, facility data tables, cable schedules, plan views, and details.
Expectations:

This is a junior to mid-level position for applicants with electrical design experience. We are looking for candidates with the following:

  • Understanding of basic building code requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player.
  • Excellent technical writing ability.
  • Highly organized.
  • Must show ownership and follow-through on assigned projects.
  • Interest in professional growth.
  • Ability to learn quickly and grasp new concepts, especially as they relate to engineering and construction.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit is a plus.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • BSEE or equivalent is a plus, but not required with proven experience.
  • 2+ years of design experience working for an architectural/engineering (A/E) consulting firm.
  • Experience with advanced technology and industrial clients.
