Job summary

M. Neils Engineering, Inc. is seeking a full-time Electrical Designer to join our Sacramento office.

The candidate will design and draft electrical systems for commercial construction projects, using AutoCAD or Revit, under guidance from senior engineers and designers. Qualifications include at least one year of relevant experience, proficiency in AutoCAD or Revit, and good communication skills. A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is a plus.

• Review design/construction documents for accuracy before QA review by engineers.
• Maintain project production within schedule and budget.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must have at least one year's experience designing and drafting electrical designs for commercial construction. AutoCAD or Revit proficiency required. A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is a plus. Good written and verbal communication skills are required. The candidate should demonstrate familiarity with power, lighting, and low-voltage design with recent experience in commercial projects. Any of the following project types are a plus: K-12 Education (DSA), Healthcare (OSHPD), Higher Education, Public Safety, Industrial, Commercial, Recreational, Solar, and/or Multi-Family Residential.

Responsibilities:

• As an electrical designer, design/draft electrical systems to meet project scope and code requirements necessary to complete assigned projects.
• Direct and assist project related work on assigned projects. Review work for satisfaction of project scope requirements, standards, and codes.
• Design/draft projects in AutoCAD or Revit from design concept through construction documents with direction from senior designers and engineers. Research and gather all available information for design of electrical systems (power, lighting, voice/data, fire/security alarm, and audio/video communications) per project scope of work, codes, and standards.
• Maintain communication with firm's project managers, engineers and designers, and other engineering disciplines to coordinate project planning and design requirements.
• Review design and/or construction documents for accuracy and compliance prior to quality assurance review by project engineers.
• Maintain the projects' production within schedule and budget.
