Nidec Mobility America Corporation (NMOA) is seeking an energetic and focused Electrical Design Engineer (Switches) for our Hybrid work environment.

NMOA (St. Charles, IL), is the headquarters of our family of companies with facilities across the USA, Canada, Germany, and Mexico, with our Sales Team based in Detroit Metro.

As a world leader in sensing and control technology, we manage discrete functions in automobiles—from seat switches, power window switches, to complex user interfaces. NMOA collaborates with automotive OEMs and leads in product development within Nidec for global vehicle manufacturers. Objective

The Electrical Design Engineer (Switches) is responsible for designing and developing automotive electronic modules and components, coordinating within the company, and developing new products. They also serve as a customer liaison.

Examples of electronic components include:

• Pushbutton Switches: Momentary or latching types, sometimes illuminated.
• Motor Controls: Including integrated switches and controls for starting, stopping, and regulating motors.
• Passive vehicle interior switches, with or without LED illumination.
• Active vehicle interior switches communicating via LIN protocol, featuring microprocessors, voltage regulators, and communication ICs.
• Microprocessor-based switches controlling relays or motors.
• Creating new electronic product designs based on customer requests or internal development, understanding customer procedures, and adapting development accordingly.
• Implementing new designs into production, following the entire development process.
• Assisting Quality Department in analyzing warranty and customer return data.
• Developing departmental goals with leadership.
• Ensuring timely delivery of development milestones.
• Preparing product/system layouts, schematics, and detailed drawings.
• Analyzing test data to verify design performance and functionality.
• Experience in circuit design, simulation, component selection, worst-case analysis, and circuit simulation tools like PSpice.
• Maintaining customer contact during projects, including technical development and program timing.
• Liaising with suppliers for quotes, specifications, and samples.
• Researching and improving current products, ensuring specifications are met.
• Supporting ISO14001 Environmental Policy compliance.

Experience: 3+ years in electrical design engineering focusing on switches.

Education: BSEE.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Circuit design, simulation, component selection, worst-case analysis.
• Knowledge of automotive switch electrical design, LED lighting, microprocessors, voltage regulators, PTCs, relays, power electronics.
• Working with suppliers, schematic capture, BOM generation using Altium, Mathcad, PSpice.
• Experience with DFMEA, EMC testing, and automotive standards.
• Testing products, root cause analysis, international travel, customer communication.
• Experience with LED color-mixing, light measurement tools, power circuit design, and microcontrollers.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, multitasking, attention to detail, and working with urgency.
