Job summary

Potential Engineering Inc. is an electrical engineering consulting and design firm seeking an Electrical Engineer in Montrose, CA with work-from-home flexibility.

You will handle electrical design, power system analysis, construction administration, and project planning for industrial, commercial, and residential projects. The role emphasizes safe, efficient design compliant with local, state, and national codes, including NEC and Title 24.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Electrical design experience for power and lighting plans, including tenant improvements in construction projects.
• Experience performing field visits to collect data and assess site conditions for electrical design.
• Experience using AutoCAD with basic understanding of layers, external references and drawing tools.
• Knowledge of NEC articles used for electrical design (e.g., Article 220, 240, 250, 300, 430, 450).
• Knowledge of Title 24 Lighting Controls Requirements.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Comfortable conducting site visits independently to obtain project data.
• Strong Microsoft 365 software knowledge.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Relevant work experience in industrial, commercial, or residential projects.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for power and lighting.
• Produce electrical single line diagrams and sketches.
• Perform site visits to gather required project data for design and arc flash projects.
• Attend coordination meetings with project parties.
• Consult with customers to determine project needs.
• Work with other engineering disciplines to complete projects.
• Perform Load Calculations.
• Perform Photometric Calculations.
• Complete Title 24 Calculations.
• Design power and lighting systems to meet customer needs.
