Job summary

O'Brien Engineering, Inc. in Dallas, TX seeks an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our MEP team. This full-time role focuses on designing electrical and low-voltage systems for commercial, healthcare, and federal projects using Revit and AutoCAD.

The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, develop system concepts, coordinate with engineers and clients, and travel to project sites as needed. 5+ years of relevant experience required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience designing electrical and low-voltage systems for commercial buildings, health care and federal projects.
• Experience with central plants, hydronic, steam/ VRF and energy recovery systems.
• Working knowledge of building and building system codes and standards: IBC, IECC, IMC, ASHRAE, NFPA.
• Design background and understanding of systems and applications in buildings and facilities, including coordination with other disciplines.
• Proficiency in Revit, energy modeling software including SKM, Bluebeam, AutoCAD.
• Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas (or license in another state with the ability to obtain Texas license within 12 months).
• LEED accreditation (preferred).
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, time management required.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design in MEP related projects with coordination across disciplines and clients.
• Build system concepts and documentation from schematics through construction administration phases.
• Supervise installation of designed systems and equipment.
• Prepare cost estimates, specifications, and design analyses.
• Attend client meetings and represent the mechanical interests of the firm.
• Design support of electrical systems and related controls.
• Assist in determining and developing project scope.
• Occasional travel to project sites.
